My stay in the 4 bed female dorm was as good as it can be for sharing a room with 3 others. The hostel is very old world charm with stained glass windows etc. It is well kept and very clean and very well managed. My stay in a private room upstairs was excellent, but on my return was put in a private room downstairs, no 29...avoid at all costs if you want some peace and quiet! This room must be noisiest in the hostel being located right next to laundry and near outdoor dining area and under.so n

Hostel is in the quiet neighborhood of Glebe. It was very clean, laid-back, had a homey feel to it, and the staff were friendly. The walk to center city is 15 minutes, but if you don't mind a wander around the southern parts of Sydney it is not a bad walk. The only thing that was disappointing was that most of the people staying were long termers who all had their own groups and cliques already. If you are looking for a party atmosphere for short stayers, I would suggest staying in the center.

I was in the basement, and there was a really weird smell, it had me uneasy about the cleanliness of the hostel.

The showers and toilets were old and several of them were continuously smelly. The kitchen was very dirty.

Good: location. Free breakfast. Organising a BBQ and free pancakes is very nice, but staff couldn't handle it. Guy gave one of us a very undercooked pancake, 1 cm thick and then started yelling at us when we asked him to cook it a little longer. Same thing with the BBQ when somebody complained about the fact that there wasn't enough for everybody. Lot of people stay longer and work, not good for the atmosphere. Very dirty kitchen, no towels.Cheap for Sydney

We had a brilliant stay at Glebe, the bus facilities outside the hostel are great into the centre of Sydney. Always plenty to eat at breakfast and everyone was really friendly. Was a great start to our travelling adventure!!

This was my second stay at Glebe Village and I must say I enjoyed the first one better. The staff was friendly, but when it came to taking some sort of actionwhen my roommates messed up my backpack they didnt do anything. The literally just said "that's awfull". My backpack was unusable and I had to buy a new one, but they didnt care.

There were too many people sleeping in our room and when my friend let the staff know about it they didn't really seemed to care. My friend also got a payback from the extra girl by having raw eggs in her backpack. Not nice! The staff wasn't willing to write any sort of declaration for the insurance company (she was forced to buy a new backpack) nor were the other members of staff ever noticed about the incident. All in all, a cheap hostel, okay place, but terrible people and careless staff.

This is a nice hostel, the security is there it's whether you use it, main issue is other hostel users leaving doors ajar, which is easily remedied with a quick word! You can walk into Sydney from here fairly easily. The kitchen makes meals much cheaper than eating out, and the evening entertainment or bbq helps keep your evenings buay until you get settled. The most annoying thing about this hostel is paying for wifi. And even when you do the signal doesn't reach every room!!

Stayed there for 7 days and really liked the place, staff and location. Unfortunately one of us received at the last day BedBug Bites (our mattress in room 8 was really messed up ... Couch in TV Room wasn´t really clean too). Free WiFi would be nice.

great place to be =)espacially the bbq friday and the pancake-weekends!

Quiet and chilly place. The one thing I didn't like is the complementary breakfast. It was rather a joke than a real breakfast as there was definitely not enough food for everyone. And the food could also be a bit better than cereals and milk.

i loved my stay at the Glebe Village, the staff is nice, the building is cool, the area is good, people are friendly. my bed was noisy, that's the only bad thing to say about it.

it's my first time staying in a backpacker so didn't know what to expect. the overall was good, atmosphere was nice and most are tidy and clean. we arrived on Sat. and the staff told us that there would be pancakes for breakfast on Sunday which made us look forwarded to it, but when Sunday came there was nothing but a bunch of cereal and just some bottles of milk. a little disappointed but the other days bread as breakfast was nice and sufficient.

a great stay - located in a really cool suburb, and the hostel itself is a beautiful period building. not for the hardcore party animal but still loads going on.
