This hostel is an old fashioned style one, very clean though my room had outside toilets which I disliked, location near the tramline so overall an okay experience

Bathroom facilities left a lot to be desired both in quantity and quality, and the free wifi wasn't much good but generally the hostel atmosphere was very nice.

I didnt really like this hostel - it has a lot of character as the building is very old but found the facilities very poor. The TV room felt like a doctors waiting room with really old and dirty sofas plus the kitchen had poor facilities. Also didn't like the way the showers are unisex. On a positive the bar is great and location is superb, just a short walk from the beach and tram stop. Friendly.staff too. No lockers either which isn't great!

A pretty decent hostel, great location in Glenelg, although its not so convenient for the city centre, over 1/2hr tram/bus away. The pots and pans in the kitchen could do with an upgrade as they were old and a bit worn...

Ideal location. couple of minutes walk to the beach. bus stops to the city and surrounding areas located directly outside the hostel. Also one going to the airport across the road. Tram to the city just located 50 metres round the corner. Friendly staff and good atmosphere in the bar at weekends. Only downside being there was a mysterious food thief in the hostel, but there's nothing the staff can do about that i suppose! Also no bunk beds, just singles. clean rooms and showers too.

Rooms were very, very hot. Mixed bed dorms don't really have any air circulation at all. Nowhere to hang anything in the shower either. Can be difficult as facilities were unisex.

Hostel bar was full of drunk locals looking to pick up travellers - had a pretty soulless feeling, and staff that were either too tired or unfriendly, meant the stay was nothing special. They are also very strict on late checkouts: unlike the majority of hostels I've stayed/worked in, they make no attempt to let you know that checkout is upon you, and show no lee-way on charging you (over a meager 30 mins). Pretty rich to still charge when a room has been left in a good state.

Owner Comment (Show)
Sorry you guys got hit with the late check out fee but unfortunately in our peak season we cant chase people up each morning who dont check out on time. We do give a 30min lee-way, however you guys checked out nearly 2 hours late so we need to enfore our policy when it gets that late on. Just for the future, we do explain check out time for all new arrivals on check-in and as an added bonus to help people avoid paying fees we provide clear signage in all rooms stating check out time is 10.00am and that fees will apply for checking out later than this. I guess all hostels have their different rules, ours is just strict on check out time so we can ensure rooms are cleaned correctly and ready for new arrivals.

Great location, can't ask for better in Adelaide. 20 minutes to the city on a Tram. Airport 25 minutes on a bus. 5 minutes walk to the beach and great food. No questions about location. Breakfast was great boost to the morning. Highly appreciated. Free wifi in the lobby is a bonus. Toilets and showers or OK, but feel a bit grogy and a forgotten. Noise a bit of a problem but nothing unexpected. Slamming doors are annoying and guests yelling in corridors late at night and early in the morning...

Character-filled rooms with comfortable beds (linen included!). No air-con unfortunately so the room was very hot, but luckily I don't mind the heat. Decent cooking facilities and plenty of fridge space, though no provision for locking belongings away in the dorms. Great location close to the beach and Glenelg restaurants/cafes/nightlife.
