Overall, decent value for money - it's right in the centre so a short walk away from the lagoon, shops and all the good bars in Airlie beach. The hostel offers great deals for their bar (half price meals and discounted drinks) as well as discounts for a few other bars in the area. Beds are comfy, air con is good and there's a good vibe in the hostel. Bathroom could have been a little cleaner & you might struggle to sleep before 12/1am as the rooms are above the bar.

The room was full of ants & cockroaches. Also shared my morning shower with a gecko. Staff were rude & unhelpful - our plans messed up, we were struggling to contact the relevant companies to change our plans & we were told "it's company policy not to let guests use the phone" with no offer to call for us they just told us to try all the travel agents up the road (not helpful when you have 2 suitcases & loads of bags!) Really unimpressed & heard bad things from others about the staff since.

Really enjoyed staying here; the staff were really friendly, the rooms were spacious, clean and had air-con, private bathroom and balcony, the hostel was in a great location - just opposite the lagoon, and the bar downstairs offered $7.50 meal and a drink.. And the portions were huge! What more could you ask for?!

Perfect location, right in the centre of everything. Cheap meal deal at the bar downstairs which is very good. Rooms were clean, only issue was the beds were very squeaky, aside from that, very nice hostel. Would stay here again

Was nice enough for the nights before and after our boat trip, pretty cheap too. There's a big range in the room quality - the nearer to the reception the older and not as nice the rooms are. But you never know, you might get lucky.

Room was dirty. No area to meet people, only the bar that is attached to the hostel. Bar is open till 12pm so there is no chance of getting an early night sleep due to the bar. No lockers in the rooms and only 3 power points for 8 people.

This place cares more about quantity than quality, bedrooms are far from pleasant, place is next to a pub so it´s very noisy at night making it hardly to sleep. Showers are super tiny and uncomfortable for someone taller than 1.7 mts. Cleaning is very poor as we saw the lack of atittute by the people that were in charge of doing it.The only good thing about this place is that they give you a voucher which gives you 50% off the price of your meal. I definitely won´t stay at this place ever again.

The housekeeping staff rolled in on Saturday morning making buckets of noise (shouting and playing loud music on a radio) which wasn't popular with the three people trying to sleep in the room. They quieted down after we asked them to so that was good.

It was comfortable and fun

Location: perfect in one way (central), the worst in another - too much noise from the bar downstairs, couldn't sleep till midnight. Room was located right above the bar.

Rooms are way too close to the bar! Didn't sleep at all. Changed hostels after one night because of this.

Only stayed one night. Another place with a bad bar and a no BYO rule, they will take any alcohol left in the rooms so hide it. Lame policy of putting down a deposit for any cutlery needed, a PITA. Very clean and the beds and rooms were great though. Good enough for a one night stop-over while getting on a boat, but I wouldn't stay longer.

I found it very unpleasant that there where no real common room for the people staying at the hostel. the biggest common area where the bar right next to the hostel. and the kitchen was very small and dirty the fridge smelled very bad

There were a ton of cockroaches in the dorm room, they were even in my bed. When I told the staff, they were not bothered at all. It was terrible.

Average hostel over all. Nothing particularly bad about it, but nothing particularly made it stand out either. Visted a couple of the other hostels and they were a bit nicer. The bar was good fun though and its nice they give guests a discounted meal.

Overall a good stay! They could clean the luggage room more often and maybe have a look at the night gate, because we had some troubles with opening it.

I know Airlie Beach is a party town ;-) but the two nights I spent there were awful ! A lot of noise and guys drunk running naked in the corridor, I've never seen the night manager during my entire stay. The room was disguting and there were cockroaches in the bathrooms ! I would definitely not recommend this backpacker.

Good hostel, good atmosphere. En suite for 8 people to share wasn't enough though. Only have access to toilets in the bar area if your en suite isn't available.

Traveling as 22 and 18 year old males. Staff were not very friendly as is the case in most hostels. Found the room was unclean with cockroaches and had to make and unmake our own beds. Was not cheap enough to justify all of this. It was also on top of a bar which made it very loud, before the boat trip I had hoped to catch up on some sleep.
