The rooms were fairly clean, although we did have ants in our room. As with most hostels not enough power points. The toilets were filthy, sanitary bins were over flowing - BIG health and safety risk. Staff were rude and unhelpful. I felt like I was an imposition on them. I will not be staying here again.

The staff were ok but the place is pretty dirty. There are no lockers for belongings and the bathroom was filthy. The aircon units only work in 3 hour spells so cannot turn it off! There are blankets to rent only so only a sheet for bed and you have to hire kitchen stuff for 30 bucks. Bit of a stressful place to stay.

There was no blanket even sheets on the bed. I got up in early morning cuz I felt cold.

this backpacker is so noisy! location is good but not so clean. and when we checked out, they wanted to charge us two nights and we just booked one night! and they didnt remember to give me back my passport until i went back again for it.

The location is perfect for navigating around Cairns. The only drawback I found was that there was no activities in the evening unless you wanted to jump on a pub bus and drink your face off.

Friendly and helpful staff, clean and nice hostel. The kitchen is a bit poor with the cutlery and its like a sauna in there, they should install an AC or fans at least. Otherwise great stay. If we go back we would stay there again.

I hate the lies! If Hostelworld controlled from time to time the claims of backpackers, I think it would be a plus for globetrotters ! When a backpacker "Free Wi-Fi" and upon arriving, the reception of people say you have to pay, me, it makes me angry ! I can pay, but Global Central (and this is not the only) use lies to attract customers ! For those who read my comments, know that two streets away, it is a backpacker "Woodduck, 136 Grafton Street" that does not charge internet connections !!!

Had booked on line to stay here but when we got to Cairns to book in the staff were very rude & unproffessional. We ended up cutting out $20 deposit as a loss & went & stayed at Nomads on the Esplanage. They were very accomodating there & they went above & beyond their duties. Global Central will never get my business again & I wont recommend my friends there.

Security non-existent. The door to the rooms opens into a mall and was often propped open. I saw a guy at the pool on the top floor who, later that day, told me that he was staying at a different hostel. Staff were friendly enough, but were often so busy booking tours that it was hard to get help with anything else, including checkout. Men's toilets were often out of paper by midnight.

It is un-fair for early check-out. Global central does not give any response about deposit, even customer gave back the key. Or backpacker should take off the key , take the key back to home as a souvenir. Yes, Global central post a notice which say that night manager won't open the door or give back the deposit. But it is un-fair conditon. If I know it, I won't book 1 more day.

A great place to stay! I highly recommend it. You are close to everything in town and booking your travels at the hostel was super convenient, cheaper, and easy! Loved my stay here!

There are no any sheet and pillow case on my bed, before I going out, I already told the reception, but when I came back to my room, still no sheet and pillow, felt so bad.
