Global Village Backpacker is the total backpacker experience. The hostel is fantastically decorated and maintained. The facilities are clean and in great working order. The location is kind of poor but thats more of a knock on Greymouth than it is Global Village.

This is by far the best hostel I have ever stayed in. The atmosphere on arrival was perfect. The decor was fantastic and I immediately felt relaxed and at home. We were greeted by a gentlemen who kindly showed us around and told us about the local area - which we greatly appreciated. The facilities were fantastic, complimentary tea and cofee, a relaxing, quiet lounge area and a movie room with low couches and pillows with a HUGE selection of movies for free. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Of all the places I've stayed in Greymouth, this is the one I'll come back to - no reason to try anywhere else! Really tidy, really well thought out and set up. Warm (thanks to central heating!!) and cosy, well decorated and looked after, this place really is a gem in NZ's backpacking scene. Can't praise it highly enough!!

Our stay at Global Village was wonderful. Simon and the rest of the staff were extremely helpful. He was even there at the train station to meet my friend and I when we arrived off the bus to take us up to the hostel. The location isn't directly in the town center but it's only a short walk. They had freek kayaks and bikes that we really enjoyed. The room, kitchen and social areas were very clean and well kept. Overall, fantastic stay!

Quite possibly the loveliest hostel in New Zealand! Clean, cosy, welcoming and full of charm, I was sad to only have one night here. They offered a free pick up from the train station, provided ample information on things to do in the area, and they have free kayaks and bikes for use! The rooms are comfortable, the decor is fab, and the kitchen and common room are welcoming. A really great place, worth high praise. BBH friendly too (though not if you book through hostelworld, sadly).

This was one of our top three hostels we stayed in while visiting upper and lower New Zealand. It didn't do much for me when we saw it from the street, but inside it was quite amazing with its bright colors, "african" decor, room layout, friendly service, and modern shared bathrooms. While my wife usually doen't care much for shared bathrooms, she didn't mind this one because of its large size, privacy and modern fixtures. This hostel had very nice kitchen and meeting area also. Loved it!

This was the best hostel we have stayed in yet. The standard of cleanliness was excellent, the fabric and furnishings were really nice, good laundry facilities, including an iron and ironing board, and lots of character to the hostel. Would recommend this to anyone.

We loved the character of this place. The only thing keeping us from giving top marks is the grouchy staff. It\'s an excellent facility with a lot of neat decorating, clean kitchen however, the owner tends to hover and you feel like you\'re being babysat. He actually yelled at my husband when we came in from using the hot tub my husband\'s swim trunks trickled water in the entry the owner was upset that we hadn\'t \"wiped our feet\". It was a very weird interaction that tainted our stay.

This hostel was the most clean and organised I've seen yet! There are lots of interesting artifacts all over the place with truly excellent facilities. I particularly loved the super organised kitchen and the milk and eggs for sale. Our double private room had great decor, super comfy bed and the bathroom was really clean. I don't think it's all that close to the main part of Greymouth but it is close to a grocery store.

Our trip to Global World was a result of a recommendation and we were not disappointed. This is the best Backpackers (including about 100 English Youth Hostels) that I have stayed in. The staff and owners were brilliant. The facilities (free kayaks and bike) on top on sauna, hot-tub made the stay memorable. The whole place was spotless and as a direct result the guests treated the place like home. And no I am not the owner, even if it sounds like it.

This was one of my favorite hostels in NZ! The atmosphere was great, as were the staff and everything was so organized! Even though we arrived later than planned, the manager was still very friendly, understanding and helpful. I highly recomend this gem of a Hostel.

A great hostel. The atmosphere was very relaxing and we spent an evening sitting in the common room, listening to someone play the piano. Everyone at this hostel was very quiet and respected the place well. The staff were friendly and informative and the hostel offers free bicycles and kayaks. This hostel is very clean and has great amenities.

What makes Global Village special is the people. The staff are informative, friendly and helpful. They make you feel at home. The kitchen is the most popular place in the hostel. There are people there chatting at all times of the day. During dinner time the kitchen is alive! And the lounge has a good collections of books and magazines. When the weather is bad, you can hang around the lounge. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Highly recommended!

This was a surprisingly good backpacker hostel. Room and toilet were clean, and the lounge had a very homey feeling . Staff was helpful. One small negative was the poor wireless signal which was very slow.
