We really enjoyed our stay at Glow Worm. The location was fantastic and provided a conveniently short walk to local restaurants and bars. We also appreciated the complimentary soup, fresh towels, and soft linens.

Nice hostel, clean and well kept. Free soup every night but no basic stuff for cooking like sugar or salt. Wifi fast but have to pay for it as almost everywhere in new Zealand

Our stay in the Glow Worm cottage was really nice. Staff were friendly and helpful. A great atmosphere. Clean Kitchen and bathroom in our stay. Free soup which was excellent as the Four Square in Franz Josef is extortionately expensive. Very quiet at nights due to the quiet policy which was excellent and something far more hostels should enforce. One of our favourite hostels in New Zealand.

Great little hostel, great location, lots of character, rooms are clean and a decent size with in-room kitchen facilities including fridge and kettle. And if you get in the room first you can take the bottom double bunk!

Room was decent but there was no where to plug in the hair dryer near a mirror.

Had a good stay but our roommates had terrible smelling towels and shoes that stunk up the entire room. Even airing it out the room didn't help much. Nice staff, clean facilities. Had a mini kitchen in our room, which was really nice. Bathroom could've been a little better but overall nice stay.

The staff were helpful with tour tips and the rooms were clean, plus the free soup in the evening was lovely! It's reasonably priced, though internet is expensive (though in fairness, this is common throughout New Zealand). I have to say that I have stayed in friendlier, cosier, nicer places, but as a whole, it's not a bad place to use as your base when exploring Franz Josef.

This was one of the best hostels I have ever stayed at in my travels. It was spotlessly clean and the common areas were more like a lodge than a hostel. There was free vegetable soup every night and a free spa. It was very cozy and friendly place.

One of the better places we stayed in during our visit of NZ. PROS> room with own little fridge, bathroom and toilet, staff very nice and helpfull, good location just off the main street, free parking, big kitchen with free soup every evening at 6pm (although a little too much pepper:-) CONS> quite small for 4 people with full backpacks. Highly recommended!

GWC was good value for money. Location is fine - the town itself is quite small though. Booked an extra night - even for NZ the standard is nice; rooms were well appointed.

Nice place, nothing to do at night in the village anyway, so atmosphere in the hostel is very good and social.

as the franz josef village isnt very large itself, the gwc are close to everything. the kitchen is very good, and alsways clean. the free soup was yummy...loved the tv room in the evenings just to hang out. our dorm room was unfortunately quite cold as there was a door to the outside not totally closing. but the staff gave us extra blankets so it was ok :) all in all very good value for money
