terrible location, on top of a cliff face with no proper stairs to get to rooms. windows and doors do not shut properly. dirty rooms with no air-con or facilities not as described, didnt even stay here total rip off DO NOT STAY HERE YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!!!!
They've got good facilities, nice location and bar by the pool which is a good plus. Altough not in the center very good location, the island is so small so you have everything at your fingertips...
Staff completely lacking in hospitality skills, apart from the English guy who is working there temporarily. Really scruffy around the bungalows, rubbish all over the place. You have to come down to reception for wifi, which is frustrating. One evening I went to the desk to ask about ordering food from the kitchen and without even looking up at me from his book, the owner just said 'closed'.
As a backpackers we weren't expecting the Ritz, but this was without doubt the most disgusting, dirty, delapedated hell hole we have ever had the displeasure of staying. The long uphill, unlit, dangerous walk to the "bungalows" was the first of many horrors. The water ran brown, the bathroom was a biohazard, and we were covered in bedbug bites. To be fair when we asked to move rooms they did so the following day- but only to a marginally better bedroom with an even worse bathroom! DONT STAY HERE
The sounds carries to the hostel from town but I doubt there is any place on the island in which it doesn't! Bit of a way out of town. There is also a massive hill to climb to actually reach the rooms. They seemed to be having building works done. Hostel was cleanish. Phi phi is a bit expensive for accom. For a few nights this will do.
No Internet in rooms, pretty hilly walk as it's the furthest place to stay from town, showers were particularly cold and staff pretty unhelpful especially the English guy. But good pool area, average to comfy beds, and okay for the money seeing as it's one of the cheaper places to stay on the island.
Tinny extremely dirty rooms. To much of a hike up the hill for a bungalow in front of a dirty den, the "pool" is the size of a bathtub and more than anything, the worse value for money ever!! You pay 20% than anywhere on town for the same level room, everything is more expensive there than anywhere in town for no reason, laundry, tours etc. And when you get to the room you get a huge list of outrageous fines you'll pay for ruining things that you get ruined to begin with.
Leaking walls and roof when it rained, but staff never asked how we were going so put up with it for three nights. Pool use is at odd times - so never got to use it.

Home away from home. Great hospitality, made me feel like family. I lived here for 3 months as I traveled & worked SE Asia. Bit of a hike, but I like it quieter, up by the reservoir, but for those who read the comments, this shouldn't come as a surprise. Get a lot for your money, trust me, I know. I and many others in PP can vouch that they give a good deal. Fan rooms are great, aircon rooms are clean and nice. Just built brand new rooms above reception. You want a Hilton, look somewhere else.
Area is clearly undergoing building work/refurb. Bungalow wasn't great as it was extremely basic. Not a great communal area and facilities were again basic.
Place was amazing, meet a lot of Auzzies and frenchies which lounged around the pool all day in their skimpy bikinis which I got to sneakly view from my room and when I got drunk I had a great time dunking their heads in the water. Close to the beach, great view of a huge man made pond, and the bar next to the pool was great, would def stay again!
Nice pool and some staff were friendly and helpful! We booked expecting the access to a common room and computers etc and arrived to find that the common room was still under construction. The rooms were ok apart from pretty basic matts instead of mattresses... Also a lot of steps to get up to rooms, when it says Golden HILL bungalow it isn't joking! Booked our Maya Bay tour through hostel and had noone to complain to when the tour had issues and never got out free beer we were promised!
As decent as they come in Ko phi phi. Don't expect much and just be happy it's not in the main town! Nice to have a pool
This hostel in a couple of years could be very good. The location is a long way away from the town and the only way to get there is to walk. In the heat can be very tiring. They were still doing building works when I arrived which put me off a lot as you could get high off the paint fumes. Like I said in a couple of years time could be very nice. The pool was a good feature and a good place to meet people. There are no English speaking staff so don't believe how they advertise..
This place was about 10 minutes walk away from the main drag the facilities were what you would expect for budget accomodation in Thailand friendly staff nice pool only real bad points there was building work going on and the wifi does not work in most of the rooms
I had a really good experience at the golden hill bungalows. Staff were helpful, pool was good, clean rooms, about a 5min walk from the beach.
Decent place, minimal facilities in the room: fan, bed, cold shower and a toilet. Cheap if you just want to be located next to the bars and party all night, because it's near, but it's a walk up, bit tiring when it's plus 30 degrees. It's quite a walk from the pier and the calmer beaches (Long Beach). If you pay a bit more there are better places to be found. Just walk around, we stayed one night in GH bungalows, and then four in Don Chukit Resort (much better).
