Staff were nice and very helpful when I was trying to find a reasonable tour. Location is so close to the Sunday market and the downtown. Very satisfied with my decision to stay there!

Staff were very friendly and helpful and the communal garden was very nice. If you like cats there are some adorable super friendly kittens that wonder about. The location was a little further away from the markets and night life than I would have liked. The mattresses were thin and the showers were freezing cold. Overall I'd say it was worth the money.

Located right in the old city, this is a perfectly convenient, yet quite and friendly place to stay. The stuff are extremely helpful and caring. Ruby gave me her blanket when she knew that it would be cold at night. Other stuff would give me extra food for breakfast when they knew I didn't eat enough. The only downside of this place is facility. There wasn't warm shower and the lights of the bathrooms were broken. The bedding was not ideal. But overall, a nice retreat place!

You get what you pay for. I've stayed in cheaper hostels that are better than this. The beds are rock solid, the showers are cold, showers are also outside and Chiang Mai is cold until 11am so you'll be freezing. The rooms are cold and the tiny blanket you get to cover doesn't keep you warm. There's no atmosphere, if you're looking to just chill this place is great but everyone was very quiet, didn't really meet anyone here. I'm sure there's better places for the same price.

Really amazing place and I love it more every day. The staff is super friendly, the dogs are adorable (the pug especially), and the ambiance is perfect. There's a big chill area. It's close to things, but it's also a big property with nice trees and a beautiful fountain. 10/10 perfection. Planned on staying one night. As of now it's been 4. Fantastic place.

The friendliest and most helpful staff! Also, great breakfast for it being "free".

Great spot in a great location in Chiang Mai. We had a private room and it was nice and clean with good air conditioning. The staff was very helpful in booking a cooking class, the elephant sanctuary, and a bus to Pai. They also rented is a motor scooter to get around town. It wasn't a super social environment, so maybe not the spot if you are looking for a party hostel. But if you want a clean, quiet place in a good location, look no further. Also, a nice breakfast was included with our room.

The location was fine, it's within walking distance of most places and really close to the Sunday night market. The common area is all outside pretty much. It comes with breakfast with is a right touch. The beds are quite uncomfortable and the showers aren't great xkx

Had a great stay, super friendly staff. Hostel was on the quieter side, but there were plenty of friendly people to meet in the common area during the Loi Krathong festival. The hostel even put together a free Krathong making class, which was a really nice bonus.

The hostel was quiet and clean, good value for money especially during the Yi Peng festival. Staff members were extremely helpful and friendly.

This was a good hostel and quiet. To be honest, it was a little expensove compared to staying at a hotel with all the amenities. The hostel was inside the squarw, so everything is walking distance.

It is really nice, I stayed 4 nights, but if there was an empty spot I could stay longer. Very nice and green common area to meet with others.

Beds are really hard, but dorm was spacious. Common area always empty, maybe because it is not close to the city. Ok breakfast.

I enjoyed my stay at Gongkaew and in Chiang Mai so much that I decided to extend my stay for another night. The Hostel is like a little oasis in the city with the dorms spread across multiple small houses and a huge garden / common area. Staff were very friendly and helped with booking for all sorts of activities. Very clean dorms, toilets & showers, delicious breakfast. I would definitely stay there again!

Excellent hostel--large room with large comfortable beds. Welcoming lobby. Clean room and private bathroom also clean. Staff was wonderful--even found and kept secure my daughter's travel documents and money when forgotten in the room at check out.
