Nice facilities, beautiful outdoor courtyard. Wifi only works in the common areas, but it's really great in those areas (flawless Skype video chats!).
Minor flaws are many, but cancelled by excellent atmosphere.
Really liked this place as the staff were so friendly and helpful, can organise tours, bikes and buses all from the desk. Reasonably priced drinks served 24/7 (you just noted down what you had taken). Free tea and coffee / toast and fruit 24/7 which was a very nice touch. Rooms were clean and showers hot. All set in nice garden area which was nice for relaxing and meeting other travellers. One downside is that there are a lot of mosquitoes out in the garden at times which can be pretty annoying.
Fine for a night or two, few cockroaches in room and toilet was leaking. But wifi ok, free tea, coffee and toast in communal area and water in room.
The hostel was good but it would have been better if the lockers had been in the rooms. The common area was nice.
They have all the facility that accommodate what a traveller needs. However the toilet needs a bit of renovation.
Nice little hostel/ guest house away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets in Chiang Mai; however, within walking distance to everything or a cheap tuk tuk ride! Staff at front desk don't speak the most fluent English, but we very friendly and extremely helpful when booking excursions and with questions you may have. Facilities were cleaned daily! Common area and washrooms are outdoors, so bugs are definitely an issue. Wear bug repellent and you'll be fine! :)
Really enjoyed my stay here, the rooms were really good, you feel like home away from home, and the best was the huge space around with lots of green areas to enjoy peacefully Chiang Mai rest after day activities. They also have some beers at good price too! We spend at first one night, went to Baan Chang Elephant Park, and because we were happy with the atmosphere, we stay again there after leaving to Laos. Totally recommend if you want to relax after heavy activities.
Excellent hostel. very comfortable rooms and very nice common area. Staff was very friendly and helpful....
Really good backpacker hostel especially if you're heading out Treking as you can book a lot through them and leave your large bags at the hostel. Dorm rooms were clean and it was really easy to meet people. Also free tea, coffee and toast 24 hours a day was awesome!

This place is amazing. The rooms are nice and well-furnished, the garden and the common area are great to relax and look like a resort. Gognkaew is centrally located and within walking distance from all sightseeing attractions. But the most fantastic thing about this place is the staff: our flight was delayed and we arrived at 3 am. Moreover our luggage has been lost from the air company. At 3.15 am they provided us t-shirts and shorts for the elephant camp we had booked for the following day.
FANTASTIC! The lady on reception is soooo nice, booking trips, hiring me a scooter just awesome!

The staff are amazing. Nice hang out area with two good free computers. No lockers in the dorms, only at the front is my only issue. Recommended
I loved Gongkaew Chiangmai home! My friends and I came to Chiangmai for the Yee Peng festival, and though the festival alone would have made our visit to Chiangmai unforgettable, our stay at Gongkaew Chiangmai home made it infinitely better! The staff was so friendly and helpful, and they totally embraced us and included us in the festival activities!
had a great time there! A free coffee in the afternnoon (for free all day!) in the beautifull community area was great. dorm and bathroom facilitys were clean and nice. slight donwpoint was maybe the matress, not really commfy, but thats asia. Staff was overly helpfull and made me had a really good time. Thanks.
Really great find in Chiang Mai away from the touristy party hostels on the south side of the old city. Like its name says, this is a guest house so it's great for talking to the owners and chilling with other guests in the large common area with cheap beer they sell. The owners did an amazing job hosting us for the lot katong festival (lanterns and boats). They arranged group activities like making the offerings and walking us over to where the local people celebrate! Definitely rec!
I had an amazing stay here. The facilities are good, I stay in the dorms. Each bunk bed had a light an outlet, the common area was outside which is very nice as long as you put on a little bug spray. However the people who run the place are amazing! They honestly made you feel like family and were very accommodating. I was here for the big lantern festival and they arranged cheap transportion and the next night gave us materials to make our own river offerings.
Comfortable stay, with friendly staff and a sweet little garden and chill out area. Free tea, coffee and toast all day, but no other food. Lovely little place with good, clean dorm bathrooms, though the ensuites left a little to be desired. Overall I was happy.
