lovely relaxed atmosphere and very friendly helpful staff, couldn't recommend it more.
Great little oasis to relax in while in Chiang Mai. Basic enough bungalows but spotlessly clean. Free coffee, tea and toast all day is a really nice touch! The staff were friendly and helpful and I would happily recommend. Only drawback is the location. Bit of a walk to the bar, restaurant and market area. Although the local places to eat nearby were great and much cheaper than the touristy part if town!
The downfall was the bathroom in our room and the shower was beyond dirty and the smell of sewage continuous although worse in the morning. We know that this was a good price for the facilities available but nevertheless didn't feel this was appropriate to give guests as public toilets we used were cleaner than this. It was very disappointing as we felt we were trying to avoid being in the room at all. Also there was alot of Mosquitos, geckos

only negative of this charming place: as travel agency they should have warned us before booking a speed boat ride to luang prabang as there have been many accidents in the past

Very nice outside common area with free toast and tea, coffee. Smelly bathroom.
Really good place, very quiet, easy to chill and close to everything!! Best place in Chiang Mai for people who want to be more in the nature.
Although on the far side of the city it was still convenient to walk everywhere. Showers were fine. Air Con was great. Nice outdoor area. Free breakfast. Cheap beers. Staff were helpful
Nice hostel, good room and a cool, open-concept feel. Only downside is mosquitoes are a bit of a problem.
Good location. Friendly staffs. I stayed only one day but i'd like to stay here again if i have a chance to visit Chiang Mai.
Overall this was a pretty decent place to stay. It's located in a fairly quiet section of the old city which was nice, although it was a good 30 min walk over to the night market and most of the bars and nightlife. The staff gets an A for sure though. One of the guys personally drove us to check out a Cobra show outta town one afternoon with no advance warning, he also got up at 6am to personally drive us to the airport when we were leaving. Poor wifi connection in the room was frustrating tho.
Gongkaew is a nice hostel in a quiet neighbourhood, the big garden where you could sit on lounge chairs was the biggest advantage of Gongkaew
Really nice place to stay, clean rooms, good bathroom facilities and social area. Wifi a bit sketchy, never managed to connect with my phone, but there were also computers available for free. Staff very helpful, both with hostel-related and activity-related questions. Prett good place all over, really!
Nice and clean hostel. Basics room with ac. Lockers are small and outside, next to the reception. Very nice and beautiful outdoor area. Coffee, tea and toast with butter or jam are available all the time :D Its value for the money. I recommended this hostel
Nothing negative about the hostel : the staff is very friendly and helpful, the hostel is clean, you're just 10 minutes from the city center. And the garden with the chairs and sofas is a nice way to meet people and relax after walking all the day ! Free coffee and toasts all the day !! I definitely recommand to the people going to Chiang Mai to stay at this hostel
Excellent hostel close to the temples and good places to eat/drink. It's about a stones throw away from a massage area and around 5-10 minutes to the centre of Chiang Mai. Tea/coffee and toast are available 24/7 along with lockers, laundry facilities and a place to have a beer and relax. WiFi is excellent and would thoroughly recommend. I would go for the en-suite otherwise the shower area and toilet are communal.

only booked here 2 nights originally, ended up staying here for 7 in total! This family run guest house is really just what you need when coming to chiang mai. It's always clean, dorms are simple and nice, WIFI works perfect and the garden is really nice to chillout and relax in. I really enjoyed my stay here, the staff are always friendly and are always happy to help. Location is perfect, just a short walk to WAT PRAH SINGH. Free tea coffee and toast 24/7! Will be back!
This is a really interesting hostel as it feels very natural and organic. There is a nice lounge area and you can buy some drinks or beer from the front desk fridge if you like. It is a little far away from the night market area, but it is in the heart of the old city, so you can just walk around all day and take in the sights inside of the old city walls. The bathrooms are all outdoors, but they are very modern and pretty clean.
A good location within inner moat, with friendly staff and pleasant surroundings. My only gripe was the intermittent WIFI.
Very friendly family run guest house. Nice setting, free tea/coffee and toast. Very helpful when needed, short walk to main area in old town.
