Actually it was not a hostel but a hotel, but this was rather positive.
Gorky 6 is a hotel. Not a hostel. One floor of this hotel is designated a hostel with a common kitchen/dining area. Rooms have multiple beds with an ensuite bathroom. Hotel reception (on Gorky Road) on the ground floor is where you check in. For a change from hostels, this was nice. Clean and just like a hotel. Location is 30 min walk from the station, but good for tourist stuff. Supermarket is 15 minutes walk away in the central area, but there was restaurants on the way.
Great! The staff was really helpful and they were the only hostel during our Transib Trip through Russia that offered to organize the "registration" for free within a day! WE couldn't find the hostel right away.. with just the direction from hostelworld. It's registration desk is acutally in Gorky street and the entrance doesn't really have a sign or anything (at least we didn't see it) but is shared with a fancy - Hotel entrance. The hostel is then in a seperate house next door.
Nothing to complain about! Friendly staff and guests, we felt safe and welcomed.
Nice hostel, and it is quite close to the city center. Rooms are clean and the facilities are good.
This hostel is in a good location, only 15 minutes from the Kremlin. The staff were helpful and it was great that they had space to accommodate us for a second night. This hostel needs a better wi-fi connection as it can become very slow, and also plates for the kitchen.
Hi, the hostel is very sweet 20 min from the main station, with a nicely equipped kitchen and common room, even though plates are an unknown variable. We enjoyed our three days stay. Beds are comfy, rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. Unfortunately not many travellers come to Kazan, so the atmosphere felt a bit empty.
We were in fact staying in a hotel room with own bathroom. All the bunk beds were brand new (there was 4 of us staying in the room). Extremely good value for money. Not much of a hostelspirit, but good if you want to rest from backpacker's life for a moment. There are washing machines, but the kitchen didn't have a stove nor an oven. Also we got our registration in Russia for free without even having to ask for it, which was a very nice surprise (and saved us 10EUR per head)
Hostel was fine and in a good location within 15 minutes walk of Kremlin etc. Staff in hotel were very helpful (especially young guy who I think was Tatar) and Nina and helped me in arranging trip to Bulgar, getting to Temple of all Religions and recommending places to eat nearby. Very good value for money with good shared facilities. Highly recommended!
The hostel is great! The location is good. It's really easy to find them from the railway station. The staff is amazing. They are ready to help you in any case! It was a very pleasant stay in Kazan!
