The hotel is in an excellent location--being near enough to walk to the city, the shops, and the pubs but far enough to avoid the noise of crowds and cars. What was annoying is that the noise actually came from the hostel residents themselves who, with my luck, went on a bender the first night I stayed there. One of the long-term female residents just wouldn't quit laughing and giggling really loudly the whole bloody time I stayed there. EVEN PAST MIDNIGHT! The facilities were more than okay.

Pros: good location, clean, friendly staff, quiet (decent nights sleep are not a problem) lots of locker space in each room Cons: there are only 2 female showers with no ledges or hooks or curtains to stop water from getting everywhere. There is very limited fridge space for the size of the hostel, and it wasn't the greatest atmosphere if you want to meet people.

We spent 4 nights in Governor Backpacker and it was very clean. It was our third experience in backpacker and it is the best.

Small and quiet Hostel. If you want to party, you should choose another place. Clean bathrooms, but two showers for all the girls are not enough. I had a great time and would recommend this hostel.

in general this is a very good place to stay, quite luxurios for backpackers. There are a lot of details though that, if fixed, would make the place even better: more bathrooms/showers, more toiletpaper (ran out almost every morning and no-one with the key to new...), more hooks, shelves in bathrooms, teatowels in kitchen, more cuttlery, fix the airco's that don't work.... things like that. Quite a lot of longterm people here, but atmosphere is good and quiet.

An update on the shower facilities wouldn't go amiss. There are 2 showers and 2 toilets in one case the toilet is in the same room as the shower so if both showers were occupied there is only one toilet available.

The building was nice compared to most hostels and the room was clean and simple. The kitchen did seem to be small and they definitely need extra fridges. They have quiet after 11pm which is reasonable however sound from the kitchen where people hang out really carries to the rooms. If the other travelers aren't considerate then you will be up as late as them.

Very dirty hostel...stayed in the YHA previously which is a palace compared to this place. Never seen the floors washed. We had an ensuite double and you have to reach across the toilet to use the sink! It is comical! Kitchen facilities are very poor with little cutlery, pots pans, some knobs to turn off/on the cooker rings would be nice. I would avoid it like the plague! Go to the yha on Wellington st.

Rooms are pretty small with little to no floor space to store your luggage. There are (very) large lockers provided for each guest but being on the top bunk my locker was too high to lift my backpack into. I didn\'t like the gentleman who runs the hostel very much, he was quite unfriendly to most of the guests, but the lady who runs it alongside was more friendly. Internet is expensive citywide at avg $4/hr but if you have a computer/internet phone you can get free wifi in the shopping malls.

No air con and a week to fix, i've heard the comment to people that did have problems with their beds that it was '$30 a night what do you expect' - which is the worst line you want to hear - $30 or $300 a night you still expect some level of good working order.

This was a good location, 5 mins outside of Northbridge, 20 mins from Central Perth, 5 mins walk North to Coles supermaret and McDonalds. We stayed in a 6 bed female dorm, the room was small but had good size individual lockers but make sure bring own lock. Also had air con which was on between 6pm - 6am roughly. Kitchen facilities were poor - no oven, 1 fridge which was far too full, gas turned off at 9pm and rat spotted in kitchen. Limited bathroom facilities. Friendly place, met great people.

This hostel is very nice, very very clean. In your dorm you have air co, it is really important when it is 40degree outside! Except one thing : when they find that there are too much plates no washed... they switch off the gaz so then you cannot cook anymore! They don t give you any warnings... then you try to eat somethimg uncook...

Was happy enough in this hostel until I got what I thought were bed bugs and the manager/owner was just so unhelpful- told me to sleep in the bed or check-out, which I duly did. Met other guests who had problems with him too. Somewhat ironically the hostel is very clean, but it is also quite small and definitely not a place to go to party or meet other travellers. There weren't enough toilets/ showers either so there was often a queue in the moning. Wouldn't stay again.

This was a nice hostel but no luggage storage through the day so bags and belongings had to be left in the communal area next to the front door which remained wide open. Food was stolen but no signs anywhere to with warnings. All staff were very nice to me but I heard bad reports from other guests. One who complained about the reception being closed much of the day with the reply that "for $30 what do you expect". Overall, a good hostel but paying backpackers also deserve good customer service!
