Grand Hostel Berlin is a great hostel, but has some issues, as all hostels. Girls bathroom is automatic so you can't dress in the cabins. It's not the ideal for your privacy. A kitchen would be a plus, also. The hostel is very calm, which is good if you're not the party type. Location is good, only 20 min walking to Brandenburg Door, which is close since Berlin is a huge city. Is also very close to Mehringdamm, where you can find lots and lots of restaurants. Staff is very nice and helpful!
Extremely beautiful and cosy lounge area, spacious and tastefully furnished room, comfy bed, impeccable bed linen, friendly staff, and great location near Ubahn and bus stops. Wonderful place! Toilets could be cleaner though.Shower room could be more functional (no hangers and often a bit flooded).Had trouble sleeping, although I booked a single room, due to a big group talking loud in the corridors and closing the heavy doors.(Could make sense to have single rooms and dorms in different floors.)
loved our stay at the grand hostel! would defiantly come back if in berlin again. best beds for a hostel :) fast wifi, comfy beds, very clean and helpful staff
This hostel is pretty much a hotel, or a luxurious/grandiose hostel. The main room is very cozy and the bar is convenient. The staff were super friendly and helpful with places to go and see throughout the city. They also gave me great advice for discounts at the time. The rooms are huge, clean, comfortable, and the lockers are large. The bathroom/showers were clean. The location isn't in the heart of the city, but the metro is right across the street. Great place, fully recommend!
Perfect place to stay, perfect breakfast buffet! Thanks guys!
Cool hostile really friendly staff, don't think it's the best hostile for meeting people but still a great place to stay relax and see the city.
considering it is the best hostel in Ermany 2013 voted by hostelworld, i would expect a kitchen. but other than that, super friendly atmophere, next the the metro line and supermarket close by. reccomended :)
This is a fantastic hostel - one of the highlights of the trip. Unfortunately no kitchen, though. It is about 5min walk from the S bahn and only a 100m or so from the U bahn so though it is not in the centre of town, access is easy. The atmosphere is what sets the place apart. The staff are very friendly and sociable and this hostel is a very good choice for those traveling alone.
I was in Berlin for a congress at the Templedrome so it was very convenient as it was walking distance to it. The staff were very friendly and manned 24hrs so if you wanted a cup of tea at 4am, like I did, they happily obliged. The noise does carry in the corridors in the morning, but otherwise was relatively quiet. The hostel was very clean and had the feeling of being in a hotel. There was good wifi in the reception/lounge area but a bit sketchy in the room. It was a good experience!
Really enjoyed my stay. The rooms are big and no bunk beds! The breakfast in the neighbor restaurant is worth the price and the common area are is cozy. I arrived earlier and not felling so well and the staff was very nice with me, offering me some tea and also managed to allow me for check-in a little bit earlier, so I could rest.
can be noisy in the evening if u stay ion the ground floor, close to the bar. when i went to the bar myself, there was no one behind it so i could not order a drink. apart from that, it's good

Great spot. Best part is no bunk beds and large rooms. Excellent staff. Not much immediately nearby, but located on 2 u Bahn tracks. Helpful, friendly staff with cool library bar attached. No kitchen facilities I believe but an attached restaurant with good breakfast buffet for 6 euros. Would stay again.
Staff upon arrive took care of us the whole time.. It was a pleasant stay..
Only stayed 1 night but I was very impressed by this hostel, the guy on reception (think his name was Sebastian?) was fantastic. The room was amazing, bed was super comfy, bathrooms were excellent. Only small problem was WiFi in the room was very slow but worked fine downstairs. Overall, very happy!
I love this hostel. This hostel is very clean (which I care most!), nice decoration. No Bunk bed in mixed dorm, I like it! The staff are very nice. Apart from the fact that there is a bit noisy sound when you open your room door (coz it is in an old building), nothing I can pick on this hostel.
My main gripe about this hostel is that it lacks a kitchen and refrigerator, and I'm not sure if it's due to a fire safety regulation or just a way to encourage guests to spend at the restaurant. Other than that, the rooms and bathrooms were very clean. The reception was really helpful in pointing out the main sights in the city. This mega hostel feels more like a hotel.
I have worked as a concierge member in a prominent hotel where flexibility and finding solutions is a part of the job. The management directives re. Storing guest food in a fridge is so petty. Common sense people! Reviews and word of mouth are paramount to your business being successful!
The hostel has won several prizes but I personaly don't think it deserves them. The hostel managers are nice and the atmosphere is cozy. -There are no towel racks in the rooms or in the bathroom. -It is very annoying having to enter in the rooms with a code. Waking up at midnight and having to remember an access number or carry around the paper with the code is not practical. -The internet code they give you expires after a while ,not practical -There is no kitchen, and the bar is expensive
Excellent hostel. Very much recommended for Berlin visitors. Great facilities, helpful staff, a fine location and very good value. We stayed in both a private room and an en-suite dorm, both of which were far above the usual hostel. Don't waste your time staying in Mitte - you'll have a much better Berlin experience down around Kreuzberg.
Fantastic hostel. The beds are very comfortable! Very good value for money.
