It's one of the only hostels in kagoshima for this price but it's more of a guest house for local or traveling Japanese people. The staff was okay, nothing that really stood out about them, but the customers there were so loud at like 5 am in the morning it made it hard to sleep. The location is the best part because it's right next to the ferry that takes you to yokushima or the other islands. Not the best hostel by any means but it'll do.

Nice hostel. I enjoyed the layout. The kitchen was a bit messy/dirty. Close to stores and very close to ferry which was convenient.

Poor wifi, only 2 showers between about 30 beds and 2 toilets (one on each level). kitchen too close to mixed dorm. not fun when everyone decides to cook dinner at 10pm. 1 sink for brushing teeth on top level.

I had a great time there. It's super close to the port, restaurants, super market and bus stops.

Great location, close to the Sakurajima ferry (although a bit far from the station). Nice staff and common areas, one with kitchen and also a terrace. 7/11 and 24h restaurants nearby. No lockers. Some people seem to be living there long term, which is fine with me, but hanging laundry in the dorm and occupying an entire corner with random belongings might make some uncomfortable. Wasn't lucky enough to meet people, but seems like a good place to do so in a better season.

A little bit far away from JR station. Facilities are very good, but there was a strange smell in the kitchen and rooms. The common area is large and comfortable, with lots of information, books and facilities. Most residents are Japanese and some are long-term residents, so it might be a little bit harder for foreigners to make new friends. (But I still made some nice friends) Nice hostel overall.

This is the first hostel where you can't rent a towel - you can buy one for 300 yen which isn't a lot, but the towel itself is quite horrible :/ They also close down during lunch so dropping your bag can be tricky Overall it's not a bad place, but there are plenty of better options

Location was great! Right next to the port and close walking distance to everything. Bathrooms were kind of inconvenient but overall room and beds were big and private.
