It's a hostel, you get what you pay for. The staff I met were great and the place had a good vibe to it. It's not the biggest but the dorms themselves were spacious enough. Security freaks might be a bit unimpressed, but it's a hostel, not a 5 star hotel. You'll be close to the port and it's not going to make you poor. Some might prefer being nearer Kagoshima Chuo, but this is pretty good. All in all a nice place to stay for a short vacation.
good location (walking distance to the ferry), small minus for missig elevator
I stayed in the single room with the futon bed which was nice & comfortable. Good value. Nice place. Great location for Sakurajima ferry and not too far to walk to the centre of the city.
This is an average hostel. The facilities are OK. The dorms are on the 4th floor with no elevator. The location is excellent- very close to the port. That is probably the best thing about this place.
Great location right next to the port! Everything was clean and I would stay there again before headed to Yakushima, great place to rest up before a few days of hiking!

Nice place to stay, very close to the harbour and the main street. I liked the rooms, its like a capsule but bigger. The living room is very nice. The place has all you need!
Stayed in one of the capsule rooms. The mattress is literally a thin piece of foam. Very hard and uncomfortable. Other than that was OK for one night.
It's in the waterfront part of the town and very close to main stations and the pier. It's funny that the building really shakes whenever there was heavy truck passing.
I stayed three nights and it seemed like a well-run, clean hostel. The location is good for visiting beautiful Sakurajima but the traffic outside shakes the building at night. The atmosphere was safe and welcoming, and there were nice communal spaces.
The cheapest hostel I have encountered so far in Japan, but you get what you pay for. The dormitory is packed and the air in the morning is terrible.

The place was fine, good location for the port and right at the top of the main street so good for shopping. A bit awkward having the main common area right on the bottom floor so if we wanted to hang out we mainly stayed in the kitchen. Also the building shakes when cars drive past so at night it feels like constant tiny earthquakes. But I soon got used to it and could sleep fine :)
For what you pay this hostel is really good, The location is good in terms of dolphin port and sakurajima ferry. The beds were very comfortable and the curtains provide privacy, however the beds shook and that was kind of scary. The kitchen and lounge area and facilities were good and staff were helpful.
Excellent services and very kind personnel always trying to satisfy your needs.
Arrived with nobody there but was able to get in quite easily. Good location with an awesome view of sakurajima and close to the streetcar station and port.
Got a twin or double private room. The room is set up like a traditional Japanese inn, with bamboo floors and sleeping on mats on the floor. Our room had a nice little balcony and we could see the volcano from it. Shared bathrooms were a bit lacking - only one toilet for our floor, and showers (2) were on another floor - however, we never had to wait. Good wifi connection
