Nice hostel, has a nice common room and the staff is helpful. The beds shake when there are trucks passing by on the nearby roads, but if you can sleep despite that it's a very good hostel

The hostel was very nice; the rooms were airy and clean. Also, the staff bent over backwards for me: I left something important there and they sent it to me immediately with no fuss. A word of caution for those who don't speak Japanese though, not all the staff speak English. You'll probably be able to get around, and the staff there at check in speaks English, but you might have some trouble. There seemed to always be other guests in the lounge though, so they might help you.

Excellent place to stay if you're planning to use the ferry terminals, not as close to the downtown or (train) station area. However, the tram is easily accessible and it's not too far to walk, either. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the lounge area is nice.

Location is good, very near to the ferry terminal. However, the horrible smell (sweat/alcohol/cigarettes) and humidity in the dorm was unbearable..... Like breathing someone else's sweat... Since the hostel is situated beside a busy road, opening a window was no option... (noise.. And your bed will shake when a truck drives by) I ended up staying up as long as possible so I wouldn't have to go to sleep. Horrible experience!!!!

Staff were really kind to wait for us even though we arrived past the check-in time. The hostel was extremely clean and we liked how they innovated with capsule-style dorms to come up with a dorm style (at least in the mixed dorm) that gave each traveller much more privacy and convenience than other dorms. To get there from Kagoshima-chuo station cost 1,300yen by taxi, but it was really close to the port and if you wake up early enough you can go watch the beautiful morning sky over Sakurajima!
