staff is nice, but consists of just one guy (as fas as i can tell). location is a bit off center but still walkable and very close to the hydrofoil ferry. i stayed on the second floor with showers on te third floor and the stairs considered 'outside.'
2nd time I have stayed here. Overall a reasonable hostel, very easy access to port. Not a bad common area downstairs.
It's a hostel, you get what you pay for. The staff I met were great and the place had a good vibe to it. It's not the biggest but the dorms themselves were spacious enough. Security freaks might be a bit unimpressed, but it's a hostel, not a 5 star hotel. You'll be close to the port and it's not going to make you poor. Some might prefer being nearer Kagoshima Chuo, but this is pretty good. All in all a nice place to stay for a short vacation.
Hostel was selected based on proximity to the port and worked perfectly for me. We had easy access to both the ferry to the volcano and the ferry to Yakushima. Hostel was quite spacious and food options were quite nearby. Staff were helpful and friendly
Great value and a great spot. Yoshi is very helpful and the rooftop is a great place to sip a beer.
good location (walking distance to the ferry), small minus for missig elevator
I stayed in the single room with the futon bed which was nice & comfortable. Good value. Nice place. Great location for Sakurajima ferry and not too far to walk to the centre of the city.
This is an average hostel. The facilities are OK. The dorms are on the 4th floor with no elevator. The location is excellent- very close to the port. That is probably the best thing about this place.
Great location right next to the port! Everything was clean and I would stay there again before headed to Yakushima, great place to rest up before a few days of hiking!

Nice place to stay, very close to the harbour and the main street. I liked the rooms, its like a capsule but bigger. The living room is very nice. The place has all you need!
Stayed in one of the capsule rooms. The mattress is literally a thin piece of foam. Very hard and uncomfortable. Other than that was OK for one night.
It's in the waterfront part of the town and very close to main stations and the pier. It's funny that the building really shakes whenever there was heavy truck passing.
I stayed three nights and it seemed like a well-run, clean hostel. The location is good for visiting beautiful Sakurajima but the traffic outside shakes the building at night. The atmosphere was safe and welcoming, and there were nice communal spaces.
The cheapest hostel I have encountered so far in Japan, but you get what you pay for. The dormitory is packed and the air in the morning is terrible.
