I enjoyed my stay, met lots of people from different countries, thus their weekly activities in the board is cool which I enjoyed and some of the staff are cool and entertaining.

Nice little hostel located right next to Pike Place market. Main attractions, shops etc within 20 min walking distance. Breakfast good - although might be nice to have more instructions for cooking pancakes/eggs etc as was slightly confused on first morning. Also great tours (e.g. market tour) and discounts on stuff (e.g. EMP museum). Under bed storage locker handy as could fit entire suitcase in. Overall very pleased with experience and ended up staying twice.

Was great that each bed had its own lamp, fan and curtain. Bathrooms were also nice and free dinner on certain nights was good. Although directions from the Greyhound station need to be updated, is no longer on Stewart St but Royal Brougham Way

The Green Tortoise was a great hostel, very European unlike many of the ones that you find in the US. The beds each had their own curtains, fans, and lights to increase individual comfort, which was great. The bathrooms were all individual with their own showers. The free breakfast was wonderful, you get to cook yourself, which I liked. The kitchen is fully stocked and ready for your own cooking! Though I didn't get to experience it they have free dinners a couple nights a week as well. Happy!

Very helpful staff. The coupon for the EMP they provide was awesome. And the curtains around each bed was really nice for privacy since I was travelling alone.

Free breakfast everyday and free dinner 3 nights a week were amazing.. Great food for a hostel. Great atmosphere for meeting other travellers, especiall the on the free walking tour. The green Tortoise goes above and beyond what you expect from a hostel.

Great location even if you get tired of the touristy spot of Pikes Place Market. The fact that you're so close to Pikes Place Market means traveling throughout the city is easy because all of the mass transit stops near your hostel. Friendly staff, lockers in the room, fans and power outlets at every bed. All the details that most hostels leave out. You cook your own breakfast, they provide the eggs and cooking equipment which was kinda cool.

really enjoyed the stay! location is awesome, right in downtown! close to waterfront, the main streets and the most known sights like the gum wall! the room was big and even had a table and an own sink! haven't had that in any other hostel so far! breakfast was great and you even get free dinners on three days in the week, you also get to meet a bunch of other people at these dinners and also during the other activities they offer, like guided tours almost every day.

Awesome place to stay and the hostel events are a great way to meet fellow travellers

This hostel has the best location possible in Seattle. It is within striking distance of all the major Seattle Attractions right across the street from Pike place. That said, the accommodations themselves are not very good. No TV access, the wifi was free but very bad (worst I've stayed at), and common room/kitchen is often crowded. It is clean though, good beds & bathrooms. The staff is great and there is good tour information available. The dorms were very hot (no AC) but include bed curtains.

Very good hostel to stay, close to every thing you need to see in Seattle.

I loved it, the location couldn't have been better!! Great deal, great staff, great location. The staff was so friendly and it is so nice to travel somewhere new and be greeted by a friendly face. I will definitely stay there if I go back to Seattle.

great budget hotel and very well placed, so the main scenic spots are not very far. it's just besides the Pike Market. Breakfast is great and free dinners are also awesome.

Great hostel! Wifi was good and common area was lovely. Rooms were pretty nice too. Thank you!

This was my second time staying at the Tortoise. I guess my willingness to repeat visit speaks pretty loudly that I endorse the hostel. In my dorm, each bed had a small personal fan. Can't say I see that often in hostels, but it's brilliant. Lets you control the temperature a little, and lets you somewhat drown out snoring and talking. Not a fan of their draconian No Drinks in the Room policy, but I don't think it's unreasonable. Just inconvenient. I would stay there a third time.

Personally I'd rather pay a lot less and have a lot less facilities, but it seems that these flash-packer-type places are popping up everywhere now. Nowhere near the cheapest hostel I ever stayed in, but i did love the clean/private toilets and the little curtains around the bed, ensuring privacy at all times. Would rather it be 15bucks with no breakfast or wifi, but then again - I'm not most travellers and there's not much choice in Seattle!

Nice hostel with good vibe and good breakfast. Good facilites and nice staff. The location is close to the market, which is a tourist spot, but other than that not so much is happening in that area. Public transportation is good in Seattle though.

Great location and great overall hostel. Free dinner 3 times a week. Free daily breakfast. Many private bathrooms with showers. Never had to wait to take a morning shower. Bunks have privacy curtains, which are very convenient when you are trying to sleep. Staff give tips about getting around town and recommend places to see. Definitely would stay here again.
