Rating security a bit down this time as the girls who were staying in the room decided to bring in some guys they met ...

They need to clean rooms more often but price is fair comparing conditions.

My second time at Grund, this time above the club. Music was loud but quality selections, so not too difficult to deal with. The room was in generally good repair considering the building age. For the price, Grund offers a unique eclectic atmosphere of old world to grung rock. The dance floor was hopping for those who want to move with the music. Outdoor seating in and around the grass makes for a relaxing environment after a day of travels.

An excellent experience in the heart of Budapest. Grund is a community asset complete with garden! My first visit was during the week and the huge indoor/outdoor bar was only lightly used. The rooms are in flats of original buildings so bring in old-world charm with enough updates to be comfortably casual. Small lockers are provided but you need to bring your own lock. Courteous staff, location, ability to access nightlife on site if desired, and community atmosphere are Grund highlights.

That's not hostel for lounge, it's closer to strange party-hostel because of its bar downstairs. But in Saturdays evening it's crowded by local people not from hostel, in Sunday there's almost nobody, and in Monday there was kind of intellectual game for locals, so it was completely full. Rooms aren't so good 'cause they are kinda old - not-working or bad-working locks, crack in the walls and so on. There is wi-fi, but it's working only in the bar downstair, not in the rooms, so bad.

The heating facilities (heater in the room and for shower) stopped working in the middle of night. I slept in cold for few hours until morning and I could not have hot water to wash up. This hostel could not even provide the most basic facilities well.

The location is not great, but the place itself is more or less OK. The Grund bar on the first floor looks cool.

friendly staff, clean and spacious room, close to the tram line 4, cheap, it may be lacking some water points in some rooms. A very good hostel !

The pictures of the hostel were very deceitful; the rooms are smaller and way older looking then pictured, there's a 'cellar' like second floor in the shared rooms where the ceiling are so low we kept banging our heads every time we got up from the bed. It wasn't very clean as well, it seems like the sheets weren't washed Also we had to sleep while wearing our coats cause the heating was off!! All and all it was a terrible experience and I strongly advise people not to go there and way older
