It\'s the smallest hostel I\'ve stayed in but very nice. PERFECTLY located in the center of the city on an easy bus route. FYI: directions to the hostel from the bus stop were poor. They truly only leave toast w/butter & jam for breakfast, but it\'s to entice you to visit the cafe nearby. We never got to try the cafe, but if it\'s run as efficiently as the hostel, I\'m sure it was very nice. Thanks, Yahata!

We had such a lovely stay at Yahata, the staff are super friendly and really helpful. It feels more like you are staying with family friends. We booked at last minute notice and were not disappointed. The staff are really dedicated and they welcome you into their hostel. We could have breaky there and rented bikes from them to trek around for a couple of days. Excellent, would stay again.

Traditional Japanese house. Stylish and very clean. Staff were welcome. Feel like in homestay. Location is a bit far from the center. The map was not clear enough and the hostel was difficult to locate. No wifi but only PC was provided. No shower after 11pm was inconvenient for late comers.

I have the hostel a good rating but just wanted to add one remark: as in many hostels in Japan, there are many do's and do-not's and since the hostel is very small these are taken very seriously by the hostel owners (you may get a feeling of being watched and soon start watching yourself or even others :). Might be a bit of a problem for a free-spirit kind of travelers. Apart from that, all was fine!

The place was nice, the staff is very friendly. Unfortunately not too many stores nearby though there. There is no wi-fi in the house, only have cable lines in the common area. the common room is closed too early. (11 o'clock) , it is not convenient for who bring a notebook there,

Great atmosphere ate japanese house. Check in only after 16hs and breakfast is only a piece of toast...but great opportunity to sleep on a futon! Also no kitchen for guests, and bathroom was freeezing cold!

YAHATA was a great place to stay! If felt like staying in a small Japanese home. The bike rental was great, the staff was so helpful about seeing Kyoto, and the beds were pretty comfortable. Yahata is an old traditional, wooden house that has been converted into a hostel. I could see that if the place was packed it could be a bit crowded but I thought the curtains around each bed was a nice way to get a bit of privacy and aloud people to keep lights on if someone was getting to bed early.
