Had a wonderful stay at Guesthouse Bon! The house is charming and the service impeccable! Located in a quiet, residential part of the city which was perfect for a relaxing weekend, and easy access to downtown areas on the various city bus routes. Would very happily stay there again on my next visit to Kyoto!

Wonderful host. Super clean. Cool neighbourhood makes you feel like you're living like a local in Kyoto. Far from downtown and rail station (1 hour away). Near some sights but far away from others. Old house, washrooms outside but covered. Plumbing old. Great food around hostel but no nightlife. Perfect if you want a quite out often way place that's in a cool neighbourhood. Not for those who like to stay out and party or socialize with other guests.

The host was extremely helpful, great dinner recommendation and gave us a ride to the subway. Would stay again

This place was superb.. Mr Bon was one of the most helpful people I've ever met and made our stay in Kyoto very pleasant.. and he spoke perfect English and went out of his way to help us out.. e.g. helped my wife find some vegetarian food nearby. Fantastic stay and would recommend again.

Very cozy Japanese style homestay, the location is a bit far from downtown, but the neighborhood gives you a sip of authentic Japanese aura. The owner is super nice and helpful, speaks good English.

Great welcome by host who was very attentive. Comfortable accommodation in an interesting part of town, with few tourists. Access to bikes for riding around the area. Nice communal area which was good for meeting other travellers. Would recommend as a very good option for younger travellers who are outgoing and enjoy meeting others, far preferable to a hostel experience in my opinion.

Great place to stay whilst visiting Kyoto if you're looking for a traditional Japanese experience. Only criticism I have is that the location is a little out of the way, however the bus stop is just at the bottom of the street. Rooms are traditional, relaxing and clean, which is all you could want. The owner of the guest house is truly a credit to his profession, and is one of the kindest, and friendliest people you will ever meet. In regards to customer service, you won't find better!

Basic accommodation but everything you need under one roof. At first look the kitchen and washing facilities leave little to the imagination, but the hostel has so much charm and everything is maintained well. The owner is probably the nicest guy you will ever meet and is very knowledgeable on anything in kyoto. Overall for the price and service we received, well worth every penny spent. Would recommend to anyone passing through kyoto to give this place a go.

I was impressed by the hospitality of the owner of the place. Very nice place and neighborhoods. Not far from the Kinkakuji temple areas. Will definitely book this place again for my next time in Kyoto.

We had an amazing time at Bon!! Thanks to the owner, the atmosphere was very pleasant and we had a real taste of japanase culture. The owner was very nice and willing to help us to organise our tour. You can easily access to the guesthouse by bus but you are a little bit far from the subway (about 1km). However, the owner has bike available if you want to ride in the city! We really recommend this guest house!

The Guesthouse is administrated by a nice guy, who could speak english very well, also spanish and german. Its like living in an old family house, very autentic and handmade furnitueres. The Guy is very helpful, has many useful tipps for the best food in town and nice sightseeing tours as well. You can rent a bike from him, he also sells cheap day tickets for the bus. All in all one of the best hostel in our japan trip!!
