Great host, great room (quiet, clean, comfy), decent location. Guest use kitchen is great. The guesthouse is a bit far from the city center. The toilets/showers/washroom were kind of in the garden, not the best. However everything was very clean and quite nicely kept up.

Had a lovely stay at Guesthouse Bon. Great location and the best host we could have asked for! The guesthouse was very clean and had great facilities. There is also an amazing traditional sushi restaurant just at the bottom of the street. Had the best dinner in Kyoto there. Only slightly annoying thing was that because the walls were very thin it was very easy to wake up when other guests came in late. Easily solve-able with earplugs though!

I travelled solo and would highly recommend staying here if you want an opportunity to meet other travellers. It's a lot more personal than a hotel. The location is a bit far out but the host is very helpful on telling you how to get around Kyoto on the bus so it's not really a problem. The neighbourhood is nice, and there are some great little restaurants in the vicinity as well as onsen and supermarkets.

If you are looking for a guesthouse outside beaten path, Bon is for you! Tanigushi-sama and his wife are super sweet and will make you have the best stay! They gave me super nice tips about restaurants and onsen nearby so even if you are a bit outside the city centre, you will experience real Japanese life. It is also quite close to Daitoku-ji, Funaoka onsen (they accept tattoos there) and the Golden Pavilion. The house is quite traditional with tatamis room but super clean! Go there! :)

Such a wonderful place, highly recommended to travelers who are looking to try authentic Japanese living. The owner, Kuazi-san, is an amazing man and the highlight of my stay here. He will sit down with you and draw on a map where to go and how to get there. He also provides bicycle rental to guests at 500 yen/day, which is the best deal you will find in Kyoto. His recommendations led me to remote temples in the mountains and hidden eating places that only locals know about. I'll be back soon!

Traditional and beautiful place, extremely well looked-after. Host is possibly the most courteous, helpful and dedicated one I've ever met. Slightly out of way but close to the Golden Pavillion and transport is great in the city. Would definitely recommended and would visit again.
