A real pearl. Alina (?) and Florian are kind and helpful, there's a great atmosphere, and all in all staying at Muntean was a warm welcome into Romania. The only drawback is the remote location vis-a-vis Sighetu - rather hard to get to or leave if one is without a car and isn't lucky enough (as we were) to get a lift from the friendly owner. Still, warmly recommended!
The hostess gave us a really fabulous welcome. She was ready to help in every detail. Her tips about what to see in the vacinity were invaluable and her cooking just superb! Special thanks for preparing a local dish for us and something special to accompany every meal;) massive thank you from Joanna and Marcin from Poland!!!

The family who runs this guesthouse are so warm and welcoming. It's a little out of the way of the actual town of Sighet, but they were able to drive us to and from town (and picked us up from our bus) which was a huge help.
Casa Muntean is a great place to stay out in Maramures. The staff was very helpful with recommendations and very friendly. We had a rental car, which helped tremendously touring the area. Do eat dinner every chance you get, the home cooked meals were the best part of the stay. I highly recommend visiting Maramures and staying at Casa Muntean. Short drive into Sighet and out to Izei valley, Sapanta, and more...
