A beautiful, traditional home made into a hostel that is quite far from the nearest JR station so you either walk or ride from the local to there. The staff were so friendly. We talked all night despite the fact I knew only a portion of Japanese. Great fun, nice place, and right next to the park where the shika roam.

Great stay! The hostel is a 100 years old traditional house very well maintained! There are only 5 bedrooms. It's not japanese style, it is authentic japanese! Very clean, peaceful. The owner speaks very good english, is very polite and gave us good tips for exploring the town. There is only one shower though, which is not enough for shower time for all guests in the morning and evening. Kitchen is clean and well equipped. I recommend!

The hostel is really lovely and peaceful. It is easy to get to there from Kintetsu Station and is in a good location for sightseeing. We felt very welcomed and it was nice to chat with the owners who are very hospitable and friendly. We had a private room that was great. The common areas are very nice, and the kitchen is really well stocked. Thank you guys!

This place is a converted 90 year old house and quite interesting if you want a Japanese experience. The beds were comfortable and Takeshi was friendly and helpful. I think there was only one bathroom for everyone and we couldn't lock our room door from the outside, but I would recommend this hostel as it's quite an interesting place.

A great place to stay, nice and close to all the sites in Nara Park. The staff are very friendly and speak great English, able to offer restaurant recommendations and places to see. Kitchen and dining room space to socialize with other travelers. Only downside was the one shower for everyone, but a local Japanese bathhouse offered an easy solution and a chance to experience Japanese communal bathing. I would recommend this place to everyone and would gladly stay here again.

A beautiful, 100-ear old japanese mansion with a gorgeous garden (and a room for tea ceremonies, I have been told). Very clean and fairly close to all tourist attractions in Nara, although you either have to take a train to Kintetsu Nara station or ride on a bus for a couple of stops from JR Nara.. Fairly small guesthouse, all in all it feels more like living with a nice japanese Family, which I really enjoyed. Really enjoyed my stay here and would definitely come back again.

This is a wonderful place to stay in....very, authentic century old Japanese house. As such, what the place lacks in terms of facilities is more than compensated by the authentic experience you get.

Although a bit far away from the JR Station, it's a good hostel in a beautiful classic building with friendly staff.

The building this hostel uses is over 100 years old and is in great condition with a very traditional style. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The lounge closes a bit early though and noise is easily made in the rooms so you have to sleep pretty early to avoid disturbing other guests in the dorm. It's easy to walk from kintetsu station, but better to take a bus from the JR station

The hostel is located in the 100-year-old traditional housel. The atmosphere is great. You can see the Japanese garden. You feel like staying in one of your relative's house.

1) Friendly staff! Love the atmosphere in the real Japanese wooden house. 2) It would be great if the guest-house will organize some activities for the guest in the night time. Activities such as singing Japanese folk song, or Japanese painting, etc. This will expose the guest to the Japanese culture, and it will be fun to everyone too!

A very special house, not only of 'japanese character' but the real thing. Although no typical hotel comfort is offerred the atmosphere and extremely friendly staff make up for it.

I absolutely loved every minute in this hostel. The location was great for visiting Nara Park. It is quaint and charming and cozy- you instantly feel welcome at home when you\'re there. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The last thing I\'ll mention is that the beds- are actually quite comfy! When do you ever hear that about a hostel? The only downside is that you have to make up your bed yourself. Well worth it, though.

I ve spent 2 night at this hostel and I loved it. I was in a female shared bedroom the first night and in a mixed dorm the second, both nice, cosy and silent. The hostel is an old japanese house, with nice garden, cosy, absolutely no luxury but perfect for travellers that need a nice, clean and safe place where rest after a long day around the city. Very close to both train stations and the couple that run the hostel is lovely. Only thing to improve I think is internet connection (too slow).
