Lovely hostel housed in an old building some 15 minutes away (by foot) from Nara's stations. The owner is very friendly and helpful and the common room is nicely furnished and has a great atmosphere. Beds are comfortable too!

nice old house with a japanese couple as owners. they can speak English. the dorms are quite small, don't have doors! facilities are new but no cooktop just microwave. supermarket and bus stop just around the corner. not that near from the main attractions. u kinda are supposed not to stay in the guesthouse from 10am to 4pm (cleaning time). quiet. small, so everyone knows each other. directions from JR Kyobate not that clear: take the second street from the left!

Very clean guesthouse owned by a very traditional japanese. It's on the opposite side of main attractions, but it's manageable. Quiet place, nice facilities. Go for it!

Worth it for the character and atmosphere. The couple that run it are lovely and the whole place has a warm vibe. The facilities were fine and, while it`s a little far from the main attractions of Nara, the bus loop runs right by it. We had a lovely time here. As far as I could tell, there weren`t personal storage lockers, but I`m sure the owners would be happy to keep stuff for you if you asked.

Ask to see the small private garden, it looks beautiful! Also, the owners will be really helpful for advices, and tour planning. You can fell at home there.

The staff were so welcoming and happy to give lots of information and talk to guests. I was interested in the history of the building as it used to be a theatre and is now a lovely small hostel. I don't feel its the place for groups of friends to stay after drinking or staying out late as it felt more like a family home. Lovely facilities, comfortable beds and a lovely location. We loved this hostel, thank you.

I am with young childs and they refuse me. But before I ve been some others young hostel in the same country in Kyushu island without problems. They say to me it is not the same rules. So I must cancel my holidays and drive during all the night to come back my home.

Thank you Shunju and Kumiko san for offering a clean and friendly environment. We definitely enjoyed our stay, although the sakura in Yoshinoyama did not bloom and that was our disappointment. Will be back definitely!

This guesthouse is amazing! The atmosphere is very warm, the rooms are big and the common space is very welcoming. The owners are very helpful to indicate places to visit, to eat and they rent bicycle. I highly recommend the room on the ground floor which is huge, beautiful with a lot of character. The only downsize is that the people who make some noise in the common area is heard by everyone in the guesthouse. I highly recommend this place! We really felt like home.

Beautiful building and rooms. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic facilities with a cool place to hang out. Bike hire makes it a really nice 5 minute cycle to the centre of Nara. Super recommended.

Excellent location, beautiful house and very easy to find which is quite rare in Japan. Best bed I have ever had, great sleep quality. Owners knowledgeable and helpful if need of information about what to visit. My only regret is that I was very tired and stayed just one night. Will go back !

If you go to Nara, stay here! This place is run by Japanese with western style service. We (me and my girlfriend) loved our stay here and would go again. The building is really nice, the beds are good, the atmosphere is great (due to the staff).

The elderly couple that runs this establishment is the impersonation of kindness and hospitality. I have been in quite some Hostels and Hotels that had excellent staff but these two are going beyond what you'd normally expect. The House is a former theater and looks fantastic. Only con are the thin walls. l

Small but very cozy hostel owned by a really nice older couple who speak fairly good english. You immediately feel welcome and part of the 'family' - however in a way where it's also possible to be left alone if that should be what you want. Highly recommended if you go to Nara.

nice house run my lovely couple-japanese style;) ; cheap bycicles make up for 20 min walk to sights. i recommend it, but more for younger people (only one small plastic shower for all; steep small stairs to rooms; curtains instead of walls; toilets downstairs) strange house rules: no guest allowed btw 10am-4pm?!?! (i ignored-its a guest house-not private house:)) beds are cozy, twin rooms very spacious, dorms very small
