A lovely hostel, great large and comfortable beds. All very clean. Good bathroom facilities too. Perfect location, close to the train and bus station and only 10-15 minute walk to the main lakes in the city. Staff were very helpful and spoke great English. Be prepared for mosquitoes as it is right on the river as the name suggests!
Really nice - laid back hostel - staff spoke English and was eager to help - especially one guy - no problem to leave your luggage in the locker room, even if you are not staying in the hostel anymore (e.g. 2 days trip to Longji rice terraces) - would definitely come here again!
Convenient, tranquil location, very spacious room with large beds and shared dorm bathroom, very clean! The cafe by the river was nice as well. Although kettles are provided in the rooms, it would be nice to have free water in the lobby area.
Another useless recommendation from Lonely Planet. Arrogant manager. Dorm room smells mouldy and located in the basement of hostel. Don't bother. Much better hostels in Guilin.
The staff were very friendly and helpful even though we were clearly just passing through. The bathroom. Though small was very Clean and our room, with its white sheets, large window, sun block drapes, flat screen TV and a/c was more like a boutique hotel. The location on the side of the river with its scenic walks made we wish we were staying longer so I could go for a walk. For breakfast there was a range of choices and our Amercican breakfast was good.

It's a little outside of the city center so not great to meet tons of new people, but as a couple this was what we were looking for. Room was clean, but on our last day we found a huge dead cockroach next to our bed so no 100% for cleanliness. Really nice and helpful staff.

Relaxed atmosphere in a great location. There were a few times when it was a bit noisy but I'd be surprised if you found a place in the heart of the city that wasn't. Good times!
Clean place with friendly staff. Great location with cheap eating places, super market, bus stops and attractions of Guilin city just a walking distance away. There is a whole street of small and cheap Chinese restaurants across the road in a by-lane running parallel to Zhongshan middle road. The Yangshuo cruise ticket was bought at the hostel for RMB 395 with English speaking guide and buffet lunch - but the cruise didn't require much explaining and lunch wasn't that great.
The only advise I have is to put an aircon in the twin bed room as well. As we had a joining double bed room which had aircon was great. But the twin room which is part of the double bed room was really hot! Part owner Robert had excellent edvise on transport/sights etc Absolutely worth visiting the sights in Yangshuo and Longji-Longsheng he recommended!
We arrived late, at 2 am. The staff was very considerate and left us a note and the key to the room, saying that we could check in the next day. The room was a little bit damp but comfortable enough.
Good staff and nice common areas. Did not like the dorm though because it was underground and therefore dark. Food can be skipped.
Great location and great staff. They organize nice trips in the area. 6 bed dorm did not have lockers, which was kind of annoying.
The dorm has nice wide beds, no bunk beds, but is is located in the basement of the building. The location of the hostel is excellent, close to the centre and the train and bus stations. Staff are friendly and helpful.
The ability to walk to the Hostel from the train station was very convenient. Check in went very fast and the front desk explained some of the tours they provide with more information. Overall, the hostel was good and I will recommend to others in the future.
We only stayed at the hostel for one night - it was a perfect location. In the evening we walked towards the town with the pretty lakes, I'd say it was a 20 minute walk. We felt very safe in the location. It might be a bit difficult to find the location (we were brought by a taxi driver who struggled a bit), so I'd advise to print a map of the location. We booked a tour with a raft to Yangshuo ,that as all organized well by the hostel, and at a very good price.
Staff very helpful but just 2 comments: - we asked for the airport pickup service and if we wouldn't have a chinese phone to call the hostel I have no idea how we could have ever find the driver: he was not waiting for us with our name on a paper but waiting in the KFC, without any sign, not even looking for us... - the bamboo-boat trip on Li river arranged with the hotel was very expensive and a little disappointing (bamboo is actually plastic, noisy motor, trip shorter than expected)
The hostel was well situated at the river. As Guilin is not very large it is easy to reach all the sites. We rented bikes from the hostel to go to the cave which was quite nice and went a bit further to rice fields and surroundings where you almost reach true country side. Our three-bed room was cleaned every day and quite large, nice beds, air condition, view on the river.
Peggy the receptionist was very helpful. After making the internet booking she emailed me to offer assistance regarding transfer, tours or any needs. On arrival, we were upgraded at no extra cost from twin room to a large air-conditioned family room with TV and very clean ensuite. The location is beside the river along a lane off the Guilin city main road and within easybwalking distance of the bus and train station. We had a very restful night here and would definitely return here again.
It's near the main road, where you can catch taxi to airport easily /or you can pay the pick up service (90Yuan) at the hotel, which is even cheaper than what you can find in front of the hotel. It's also locate near the bus station which isn't far from the train station and if you are up for a little walk it's about half an hour wall away from the airport shuttle bus (cost 20 Yuan per person - on Shanghai road). Great wifi signal, nice AC, nice decoration.
