this hostel was increadibly amazing!!! on arriving what i saw there was the ruined hostel. the building was being rebuilt so i couldnt stay even though i booked propery and payed deposit. that was overwhealmedly shocking. moreover the owner wasnt there! i got speachless...
I arrived at the hostel around midnight and was surprised to find it closed. No one answered when I knocked at the door, no one answered when I called on the phone. People from the restaurant next door told me that the owner was on vacation and had closed the hostel during that time. I had made the booking a week before arrival, so it would have been rather nice to inform me of this detail, especially since this is the only hostel in town, and Guiyang is not exactly a safe place at night.
My rating is as a comparison to Western standards. While there was heating available in the rooms, it was not very effective. Since I was the only guest, all but one staff member had left for Spring Festival vacation. The public bathrooms and showers were kept clean, but were small and combined (this is normal in China). Toilet did not flush. The staff member was willing to help and accommodate when asked, but did not volunteer anything. Beds were clean. There was a thin mat for a mattress.
I was for one night here and it was just fine, do not expect to much
This was the second time we stayed there for a one-night stay only on our way in and out of Guiyang. Overall, the accommodation is sufficient however the staff was lacking. For having stayed there before it was bewildering why the reservation took so long to pull up. This was not aided by the lack of English speaking staff. They then proceeded to attempt to charge me a higher price than hostelworld had offered/ higher than the last time we stayed which was only a couple days earlier.
The lady behind the desk spoke no english at all. For one night it was perfect. It is a little hidden but easy enough to find it eventually.
There was no nice admosfeer, there was only ons omployee who could speak a little bit Englisch, the beds where very uncomfortable (even for a backpackers hostel), and it was strange that you have to stand with your feet in the toillet while taking a hower.
