Private rooms are located in another building nearby, at address Teréz körút 4. They should've told me that up front, but they didn't. Although I expected it based on previous reviews. So I'm reviewing Guru2, where private rooms are located. Overall experience was good, the place was clean and quiet. There are 2 bathrooms that you can lock, and there was never a queue during my stay.
We've been there 2 nights during a week, not weekend. The place was quiet, great for resting after the journey. No queues to the bathroom. The place was clean enough (not super extra hyper clean though), just fine. The staff is super nice :). No problems with anything. They let us leave the luggage before checking in and after checking out. It's a nice cheap place with its cool atmosphere for young people without high expectations. Really close to the centre (actually it's in the city centre).

work from 9 in the morning, we wrote about an early settlement, but had to wait until 9 booked a private room, but it turned out that she was busy and we were living in another hostel with a very small bathroom
We generally had a good experience however when it came to checking out it was a bit of a nightmare. Nobody was at the desk all morning so we waited around for a long time. We then gave up and went back later in the afternoon to give the keys back and get our deposit.
Hostel was perfectly adequate. Note that the twin rooms are at a different location about 5 min walk away from the main hostel.
Location of the place is absolutely awesome. Its right at the Oktogon, which is a nice area to walk, shop and party and its also walking distance to the city center. Staff was awesome, so helpful! 8 bed dorm was really big, there even were 2 sofas in it. Thank you!
We got to the hostel with our booking details and were told that it was all full up and we would have to go to their other hostel instead. Luckily this was only around the corner but this made us wonder if there were more bookings than there were rooms which isn't really acceptable. The bathrooms at the hostel were pretty grubby and we didn't have hot water for a couple of days and there wasn't any staff at the reception so it took having to email the hostel for the issue to be resolved.
Very comfy homely atmosphere. Great place to relax sightsee and enjoy a spar. There are lots of places near by you can party the night away but this isnt a party hostel so remember to respect the staff and other guests when you get back by keeping the noise down. Important for arrival make sure you know exactly were the hostel is not just the address.
Location is pretty good and there's access to the metro right there (although I recommend renting a bike, they are cheap and Pest is flat). The room itself was clean and pleasant. The common area is small, so I definitely wouldn't call it a party hostel. Bathrooms were not great, but they do do your laundry for you. The woman who works at reception is very kind and helpful. The man was not.
Very nice hostel with a lovely staff. It's a very peaceful place were you feel at home. The hostel is right on the corner of the subway and other transportations (Oktogon station). We would definitely go there again.
We stayed at the new guru 2 hostel. We stayed there because they state that they have free parking-only if you can find some avalible-which took ages! The staff were very average, they were never really there, if the guy was there, he was fooling around with his girlfriend on the couch!

Really was just a bed for us before we flew out. Had a double room which was lovely, very good value too. Best location you can get, close to everything you want to see. Only complaint would be we shared a bathroom between everyone in the hostel and there weren't any mirrors/ extra sinks to get ready with. But fine for what it is, nothing special. Better party hostels in Budapest.
Great staff. Loved the location, really close to the Oktogon station. There isn't much of a real kitchen or general hang out area. Although there was an area in the actual room.
While we really enjoyed our time in Budapest, the hostel didn't help or hinder the experience much at all. One female staff member was very cold for the first few days and finally warmed up to us as we were leaving. Other staff member we encountered was kind and helpful. All in all, the place is pretty old, but works as a place to sleep and shower. Very small common room. Probably not ideal for solo travelers.
I stayed in the hostel for 2 nights in 2 different locations. Apparently they have a new part of the hostel. The new one smelled with paint and had no wifi and no kettle. Guess it was taken care of by now. The old one had 1 bathroom 1 shower and 1 toilet for everyone. There was a queue in the morning to the toilet. Not fun. The staff (Zita and Julia) were awesome. They did all they could to make me more comfortable, thank you ladies!
This place is always fantastic. Stayed here a couple times now; staff is really friendly, location is easy to get to for the train station or the local sights, and the group of travelers is really nice and eclectic — not a bunch of 20-somethings who just came here to party. Always a pleasant home away from home.
This place is great. It's quite small, but nice. Although, there's only two showers, so if they're both full and someone's taking forever, you might have to wait. But other than that, no complaints. Location is good. Kitchen is well equipped.
I stayed few nights and this is not something special but OK. It's located about 15mins walk to the centre and very safe area. It was good that the hostel is really close to Metro Station. I stayed in 8 beds dorm and the room was more than big enough with security locker. There were only two showers for everyone and one night I had to wait to take shower for more than one hour. Also the other night there was no one at reception for whole night. It's nice if you wanna have a rest as it's quiet.
The hostel is ok, but not much more than that. Pretty small so if you had big luggage like ourselves it was kind of a struggle coming and going. Location was good, walking distance from everything, but considering the size of the city you can say that of anywhere around. Staff was helpful those 2 times we had to ask for something, but other than that minded their own business which I'm still not sure if it's a plus or a downside. Stayed 3 nights, would recommend if on a budget.
