the best hostel i have never been, truly modern ! great location (becarefull in the week end the loop district is very quiet). there is the wifi everywhere in the hostel (bedroom, dining room, ...). it was very clean. But only one shower for 8 persons in my bed, hopfully there is some shower on the hallway, outside at the bedroom. Very safe with electronic passes. need to bring you own lock for the keep safe your stuff, don't forget it ! the breakfast was awesome : waffle, bagel, muffin ...

I highly recommend HI Chicago! Pleasant, comfortable, helpful and friendly staff, interesting events -I did the 2hrs walking tour- and conveniently located near the Blue Line which takes you directly to O'Hare airport.

I absolutely loved this hostel!! I'm was so impressed by how clean it was. It had a college dorm vibe to it which was awesome! Who doesn't love college?? This was the first time I've stayed in a hostel alone and was a bit nervous at first. But I had a great experience because the hostel felt very safe & secured and the staff was so friendly and incredibly helpful.

Great hostel. Centrally located to major attractions like millenium park, Willis tower (all walking distance). good facilities and is built to be a hostel not just a coverted building. Happily recommend staying here

There were a couple of young people at the front counter that were very rude - all others excellent. Also - showering proved to be a challenge with 6 ladies and only 1 bathroom - the bathroom across the hallway was swamped.

This was one of the best hostels I had ever stayed. The rooms were clean, but a bit cramped in the dorms. The common areas was also maintained well. The front desk was friendly. The security card system at every entry point ensured that outsiders do not gain access easily into the rooms

I booked twin "de luxe" room for 2 people through Hostelworld. I got confirmation of the price and deposit was charged. Few days before arrival I got direct confirmation from hostel suggesting that they have 1 bed booked for me (?). On arrival next surprise: they said that regardless of the comfirmed price they apply 14,4 percent of tax on the top on confirmed price. Summary: you pay the motel price for YH. So be prepared. "De luxe" rooms have shared baths in the corridors sometimes 20 m away.

This hostel was the most convenient place we could have chosen for events at Roosevelt U., Grant Park, eating places, parking. It is a nice, safe place to stay even for an elderly couple, as we are, with events available for participation. We especially enjoyed a free tour of the downtown architecture.

Should be a hotel instead of a hostel! The room is excellent and huge locker for storage is a plus. Just remember to bring your own padlock and you will be fine. I can see the subways from my room. Will definitely stay here again if I come to Chicago. Recommended.

Clean, central, spacious, and relatively good value for money hostel but with a clinical HI feel about it. Don't rely on hostel internet as it is slow and the pc's in internet room are always out of action. Try the Apple Store on Nth Michigan Ave for free internet use. Try Buddy Ray's Blues Bar just up on Wabash St for a good Blues experience.

Even with the elevated train running along one side and road construction currently going on, it didn't seem loud. Earplugs were offered at the main desk :)

bring a padlock! you need that to store your bags. It would have been nice to know in advance , I own lots of padlocks. Instead I had to find the next CVS and buy one, 8 USD. Dear Hostel, please post in on the website so people can come prepared.

The hostel was much more expensive than advertised at hostelworld. We had the receipt say one sum and once we got there they told us that this did not include taxes and we ended up paying much more. my hostelworld receipt did not say anything about taxes I had to pay at arrival.
