Property Information:
Vintage is in, and HI-San Francisco City Center has all the charm and character that goes with it. Connect to the FREE WIFI in our 1920s marble-tiled lobby, mingle with travelers in the parlor-style cafe, or relax on the mahogany-railed mezzanine overlooking the lobby. For many a weary traveler, the best feature of all is the full, PRIVATE BATHROOM IN EVERY ROOM -- including dorms!
The Prohibition-era speakeasy downstairs may not sell moonshine, but we more than make up for it with FREE BREAKFAST, $1 all-you-can-eat pancakes and eggs, and an EVENING CAFE serving beer, wine, and snacks 6 p.m. - midnight.
From the hostel, join the FREE OR CHEAP ACTIVITIES we organize for guests: pub crawls, hostel dinners, walking tours of Chinatown, downtown, and more, museum visits, tea tastings, festival outings, and organized day trips to Muir Woods, wine country, Yosemite, and beyond.
Off the beaten tourist path but still close to it all, the City Center Hostel is in between the gritty Tenderloin district and the clean marble columns of the city's Civic Center and arts districts. The neighborhood is a hub for some of the city's best cheap cuisine as well as great nightclubs and music venues, big and small.
We're just 7 blocks from the Civic Center BART station, and we offer discounted shuttle service to and from the airport. Other amenities include free linens and towels, daily housekeeping, and a full professional-grade kitchen.

Latest Review
Very good hostel: clean, friendly staff and good atmosphere. The downside is the location: too many homeless people wandering around the hoste. They provide some security tips though and if you leave the hostel in the right direction (not going towards the Civic Center), you won't have problems.
