Nice, safe location next to the lake - peaceful and scenic (great for walking or running). Those moaning about the distance to downtown are simply too lazy to walk - it takes about 30 minutes (or you can get a bus). Facilities were good - wifi worked well, kitchen was fully stocked, decent breakfast (but no milk), and the bathrooms were generally clean. It's certainly quiet, so those seeking raucous parties best stay away. My only quibble was the absence of reading lights in the dorms.

The staff are helpful and friendly, & the facilities are decent - large clean bathrooms, well equipped kitchen, and big open common room. While the location is just outside Austin (meaning that you have to catch a bus to go anywhere), it's situated along the Colorado River giving the hostel a calm, relaxing atmosphere

Overall a really nice hostel! Located right on the lake and close to downtown, it provided a nice balance between landscape and city. However there wasn't much to do in the hostel itself! Even so I'd recommend it

Hostel was located on the riverside, which I knew. It is only a short drive by bus into the city. When I was there, the guy at the reception didn't a lot (anything) about the public transport and when he looked it up and I arrived at the Metro, it wasn't even going on a Sunday! The riverwalk is supposed to be nice, but because of maintenance didn't do that. Rooms are big, it is very clean and they have a nice breakfast. Would be nice if you have a bit more privacy in the shower.

For the most part, this wasn't bad. It was a place to lay my head at night and store my belongings with an occasion shower. The women's room could have used some work since each of the three sinks only had one handle that worked so you had to choose if you wanted hot water or cold water and the last few days I was there I saw ants. But the staff was helpful and friendly.

Hostel is located in a nice area and is very relaxing. Nice atmosphere. The only problem is that the room ventilation wasn't adequate for a shared living enviroment with 15 or so people together so the room was slightly musty at night. This can increase the chances of getting sick since people travelling often get sick and might pass it on to others.
