We were only there for one night, but we really liked it. The downstairs bar seemed like a great place to hang out, but we were only there for half an hour before heading downtown. The location is alright, apparently you can walk to downtown? But we took the bus for free which is easy to catch. A cab ride back is pretty cheap too. The staff were really nice, but didn't really give us any info unless we asked (We even had to ask where our room was). But it was really nice & I would stay again

Thanks for the review of our hostel. You can walk downtown, it's about 15-20 minutes. However, it may have been quite icy when you were staying with us so I'm glad to hear you took advantage of our free bus pass system. Thanks for the positive feedback about our staff, I will followup with the staff member who checked you in as usually our Front Desk Agents are really good with their check-in process and ensuring our guests get all the info they require. - Kirsten Miffling, AGM

Great looking, comfortable hostel.

it would be a good idea for people staying at the hostel to have priority entry into the bar if it ever gets too full over people who are not paying to stay there

Thanks for the review. I will pass on your feedback to our Food and Beverage Manager as we continue to implement policies that not only adhere to the responsible service of alcohol and our liquor licence, but also provide a fun and safe guest experience. - Kirsten Miffling, AGM

There was too many people per bed room I suggest to bunks per room max Have a small desk and 2 chairs per room.. Please note at 6 x 30 your making 180 dollars per night I would say a little hi

Thanks for taking the time to review our property. We try to provide a small desk and chair in all of our dorm rooms in the newer Marybelle Building, your feedback is valued and something we can take into consideration for our Main Building. We maintain quite a competitive price in comparison to the other hostels in town, as Banff is a tourist town and in a National Park rates are definitely higher during peak seasons. - Kirsten Miffling, AGM

Thee supposed to be live music in the evening in the bar, but nothing happened. Even hour and half later there vas no one singing.

Thanks for the review, so sorry to hear that the scheduled live music did not happen. Will followup with our Activities Coordinator to ensure better communication next time. Hope you enjoyed the other aspects of our hostel. - Kirsten Miffling, AGM

Good: toilets, showers and kitchen very clean.bad: Noisy at night, there were lots of kids. No real common area except a few sofas near the reception. Most of the staff hate their jobs and are not friendly.

Hello - great comments to pass on to our hardworking Housekeeping team. Please accept my apologies for the noise you experienced during your stay. We have 24 hour staff including a Night Security person and an outside security company to enforce our quiet hours of 11pm to 7am. We have a large kitchen/dining space in each building and also the lobby of our 2nd building, plus our bar. Our staff are some of the friendliest, so sorry you must have caught them on a bad day. - Kirsten Miffling, AGM

Internet access could be improved in the bedrooms ...

Thanks for your review, it's much appreciated. Just wanted to let you know that if you were staying on the third floor of our Main Building we did have a technical issue with one of our access points that has been fixed. Hope to host you again soon. - Kirsten Miffling, AGM

Had a good time staying here. Very nice hostel good area

The staff is friendly and the guy on Tuesday morning , Oct 7/2012 was very helpful who booked the Airporter and made the flight confirmation. Although the location is a bit far from Banff townsite, a free bus pass was given out to guest for unlimited travel in town with C$5 refundable deposit. The bathroom is clean and spacious. The atmosphere is well balance, not too quiet and not too noisy.
