The hostel is about a 20 minute bus ride from town and then a 15 minute walk from the bus stop. It's not too bad, but just be prepaired. The hostel itself is nice, though they could use some new beds. Pretty standard fare otherwise.

I had an amazing time here, staff were friendly and welcoming. Abbie and co made us an unforgettable thanksgiving dinner out of their own pocket. They even gave us a lift to the bus stop on out first day. 10/10 on hospitality alone! Was almost an hour by bus from the city, but its a fair trade off for the charm and hospitality of the place. Thanks again guys!

Terrible beds, no outlets near any beds and locked out from 11-4:30?

Very clean, kind and helpful staff, beautiful location, beautiful old house with an interesting history, pancakes for breakfast. Just make sure you're aware that it's about a 20min walk and 40 min bus ride into town. I didn't feel safe walking after dark back to the hostel because you have to walk on the road on Chamounix Drive because there isn't a path on half of it (tricky with a suitcase). The beds are incredibly uncomfortable. Great hostel, beautiful but inconvenient location.

Great building and decent staff but some things just really take away from what could be a great place. Firstly, being locked out from 11 till half 4 every day is just ridiculous. People travel a lot and get worn out and can't even have one day of full rest staying here as they have to leave for over 5 hours and make plans to go into Philly, which is not close at all really. Also the beds are terrible and the crazily pressured showers nearly blew my nipples off

Hostel is in a beautiful area and staff were very helpful when planning day trips! Very good for price given

Was a little disappointed with how far away the hostel was from the major attractions but does have a bus route close by. Very good value for money. Staff was excellent. Left my laptop charger there and they sent it in the mail to me the next day!

It was wonderful! The staff was extremely friendly. The bikes there are definitely as described.

only need 40 minute to arrive to center city

Not the best hostel for seeing the city because it is very far away from downtown. The park is nice though and so was the trail along the river. Bed was not comfortable.

My boyfriend and I were very pleased with Chamounix Mansion and would recommend it to anyone looking to save money and have a safe and clean place to stay! We figured out the bus to and from center city Philadephia easily and enjoyed the atmosphere of a historic home in a peaceful setting. There were even coed rooms available (an option not available for reservations online) and we were able to stay together, which was a nice surprise.

Safer and happy there than several other local motels. Booked again for the coming week.

Really fun unique place to stay. Would have definitely stayed for longer. Cool vibes, tight knit group with the others staying there- maybe due to the homey atmosphere. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Really eager to make you feel like part of the group. Only rated the location down because you cannot (easily) walk to the historic Philadelphia sites, but that's not what this place is about. Plus you can always catch a cab/bus. Check out Spruce street harbor market. Good deal, hard beds.

brilliant place but really really remote and pretty much unbearable unless you have a vehicle. it is in the middle of a huge park -- which is great unless you actually need to go in and out of town during your stay, or do so at night. Plus a really weird and demeaning lockout from 11 to 4 pm which i haven't seen anywher else

It's reasonably priced but getting to the city isn't very easy. I figured out the transit system but they could have helped by providing some more detail. The bikes you can check out are a great way to go. You can put them on the front of the bus. The beds are really uncomfortable. But $22 is $22. Also Abbe is crabby but all the other staff were really friendly and helpful

We only stayed here one night, it wasn't in centre of philly which we thought, we had to be back for 2am which was annoying because we wanted to party! It was very clean though, nice place. Not many people. Quiet.

Nice atmosphere and house. But poor location, far from downtown.
