Your staff saved this review. Being placed across the street in a shared apartment with locals was not very cool and should have been much cheaper than staying in the main building. No wifi and a smoking man in the room almost ruined it. The lady with the tatoos (stitching on her shoulder) was a princess and we loved her. Almost everything else was a huge disappointment but she saved you.

Beware that although you are booking in to the address listed on Hostelworld, I checked in and was taken to an apartment in a residential building two blocks away. There is no wifi in the apartment and you have to walk back to the main hostel if you want to access the actual facilities advertised or speak with any of the hostel staff. If I had my pick again, I would have stayed in Ipanema or Leblon. One advantage is being so close to Bibi Sucos, a great juice place around the corner.

Worst hostel i've ever stayed. Smoking smell, bathroom always a mess, wet and dirty, the furnitures were terrible. Definitly not recommended.

Hostel itself is typical. It was a little strange because I was put up across the street in converted apartment where some of the staff stayed too. But the staff at the hostel are awesome! Very helpful pleasant and spoke English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Had a great time!

The accomodations are excelent, the breakfast is ok. Notwithstanding , it seems clerks lacks standard training, because there are someone who are excellent and others who don't Besides, we think private accomodations should have cleanliness provided by the hostel.

The staff is really amazing! Always ready when you get some problem to solve... besides, the atmosphere was so friendly that I thought I miss some part of my family.

the attention given by the staff is extremely bad. Replies poorly educated, misinformation and the apartment is different from reserved. Never again in this place. I've been to several hostels and this was the worst service.

The facilities and the staff was good, the real problem were the other guests. Everyday they were screaming like hell and didn't let us sleep, the toilet was always dirty and unflushed, but the worst thing was that sometimes they tried to open our room, they kept knocking and trying to open.

SECURITY: Rated poor because Reason#1: Had to leave luggage in hostel because of late flight departure. I was asked to leave luggage in an open place in breakfast area. Any guest could walk away with my luggage or anyone could plant drugs. When I came to pickup luggage later. No staff memebereven looked at me. I walked to breakfast area and picked my bag. Deserve better if you are spending 125$/night for dorm, no matter what city it is or what time of year it is?

Terrible rude staff who I think purposely try to upset guests for fun, was booked in a dorm in an apartment building on the otherwise of the street but staff said "hey at least your not three blocks away like others", stayed in an apartment with a local Brazilian family who were really awkward. Booked four months in advance but still did not get to stay in the hostel and had to walk around five mins and wait to cross the busy street for breakfast! Don't stay here, it will ruin your trip

The hostel is good, but make sure to not choose the "anexo" rooms.
