This hostel had the vibe of a senior citizens center, minus the senior citizens. Absolutely no atmosphere and all the guests seemed to be locals, who were extremely standoffish. The hostel is still under repair also so there's that as well...

Thanks for your comments. I'm sorry to hear we didn't meet your expectations. We do not allow anyone from Edmonton to stay at the hostel. We are usually quieter in the winter, which is our slower season. We are excited about our current renovations and the huge improvements they are going to make to the facility. Greg, Manager

This hostel is rough around the edges at this point but I hope the upgrades will make it more pleasant. Staff and security are good so that makes my stay ok. I still (as always) have a problem with having to pay per person even though we are a married couple with a single income so the money is coming out of one pocket. In the end staying at a hostel makes sense for individuals only; it is not couple or family friendly. We only stayed here because we know this hostel.

Thanks for your comments. I'm pleased to see you enjoyed your stay with us. We are currently under-going a renovation project, which will greatly update and improve all our facilities. If you stay in one of our types of dorm rooms, you do pay per person. However, we do have private rooms, which are designed for couples or family use, and are a set price. Greg, Manager

Nice hostel with great commun area, but far from downtown.

Thanks for your comments. I'm pleased to hear you think we have a nice hostel with great communal areas. We are located in the Old Strathcona neighbourhood - the arts and entertainment district. We are less than a 10 minute bus ride to Downtown. Greg, Manager

Overall i enjoyed my stay and would come back.. the staff were especially friendly and helptful and it is in a central location. It felt like a pretty average hostel. my room was a little dirty and cramped. At the time of my stay some of the facilities were unavailable due to renovations but they gave reduced rates due to this. With the reduced rates this hostel has excellent value for money which is very important to me.

Thanks for your comments. I'm sorry to hear we didn't meet your expectations. We do have free WiFi throughout the hostel. During the autumn we try our best to balance the heating with the temperature outside. We are currently in the middle of a huge renovation project, which will greatly upgrade and improve all our facilities. Greg, Manager

Rooms, and facilities were clean but the carpets were incredibly filthy. Stop bothering me with all these messages...unforgivably annoying.

Dull boring hostel with no atmosphere. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. Location was decent.

The private room in which we stayed was very satisfactory and the staff helpful and friendly. However, during our stay there were numerous negative aspects to the hostel. Chief amongst them would the theatrical rehearsals held daily in the common room which were extremely noisy and resulted in some guest facilities being closed off. Smoking in the outdoor courtyard area beneath our window meant we had to close it much of the time and it was summer. The location was a little out of the centre.

Thanks for your comments. I'm pleased to hear you found the staff friendly and helpful. I see your stay was just prior to the Fringe Festival. We have been a venue for this festival the past three years, which results in some rehearsals taking place in August. We do allow smoking at least 5 metres away from the door in our backyard until 11pm. Greg, Manager

Very good stay here. Fringe was ongoing while I was staying so it was fun to see artists preparing for performances backstage in the hostel since it was one of the venues. Lovely stay, very clean!
