This is a great place to stay in a private room on Ilha Grande. I think every private room is actually a little chalet, with its own bathroom, refrigerator, air conditioning, and front porch. Some people complain that it is "a bit of a walk from the center of town," but the town is so tiny, the walk doesn't even matter (it's like walking from the beach to your hostel in Ipanema). Plus, the walk to the hostel ensures it's out of the way and quiet. It's in a very relaxing place.

Very good Caïpirinha at the hostel bar!

Great location, back off the beach so nice and quiet. 2 minute walk to the beach. Bit of a trek up the hill with heavy bags though! Rooms were basic but clean, showers only warm not hot. Wifi was good. Good breakfast. The sisters that work there are really helpful and speak excellent English. Would recommend.

Nice spacious room (not bunk beds!). Very clean and tidy. Amaaaaazing breakfast with fresh cakes etc. Short walk up hill from the port and signposting a little confusing. Had a good time here

Hi holandes is a decent hostel. Location is a bit far out and not very well sign posted, however set in a very nice part of Abraao almost in the forest which is cool. kitchen situation is a bit of a joke, with a tiny space for guests and a huge kitchen for staff. common area is a great space with hammocks ect. room was a bit damp because of humidity/lack of AC. good breakfast! (good cake!)

It was a nice stay in this Hostel. It is a bit away from the beach, so it's not too loud. Good Breakfast.

Really enjoyed our stay at hi hollandes. We had a few problems with the shower in the dorm but they let us use a spare private room's bathroom while they fixed it. Atmosphere was really good it's a sociable hostel and everyone was very relaxed. Nice outdoor communal areas including hammocks. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this hostel!

This hostel is the most beautiful I have stayed in-you feel as though you are in the middle of the jungle, with the lush green vegetation of the island surrounding you. The place has a very spacious and tranquil atmosphere. Rooms are comfortable and clean and the bathroom and shower could not have been better. The breakfast is fantastic-the freshly baked cake and granola were a personal highlight and the staff, in particular one Brazilian guy, were lovely. There is no better hostel on Ihla!

Amazing, very clean, a little bit difficult to find but everyone on the island is super polite and willing to give directions. Breakfast was AMAZING. such a cool vibe/atmosphere, would love to return

Very comfortable rooms, decent breakfast, fine location, staff fine, though lacking in English.

The location is awesome, makes it feel like a jungle retreat. The rooms are well laid out with comfy beds. And the shower, if you know how to use it is always hot. However the staff are not as accommodating as one would expect of accommodation. Only 1 staff member seems to care about the guests happiness to the rest it seems like to much of an effort. The kitchen situation is joke. And preferential treatment is clearly obvious. It's a shame because this place could be number 1.

We had a very great time in this hostel. The rooms were very humid but I think this is more an island issue rather than the hostel. The staff was really nice, especially the guy in the kitchen. They were are always willing to answer our questions and help us! Bonus: the cats were just really adorable :)

Nice little spot up from the beach. Great facilities - beds great, big soft blankets, free filtered water, big breakfast, etc. Attracts good group of guests. Worth the money.

I am so glad I picked this hostel. It is UP from the main street, for sure, but it is signposted from the main street. The hostel's own website has the best map. And do cross the little bridge and always keep left on your way up. The breakfast is superb with a good selection of fresh fruit, cereals, coffee, tea, milk. And as other reviewers have said, there is a limit on one roll with ham and cheese. However toast and jam are available too. It is in a setting surrounded by nature. I'd return!!!

This place is more of a retreat than a hostel. The location is a short walk from the main road, restaurants and beach. Breakfast was good. Cereals, cake, biscuits, fresh fruit, bread, cheese and Ham. Cake, coffee and filtered water always available. Wifi was continually dropping out but I think that was across the whole island. Staff were helpful and kind. Kitchen was very small. Staff kitchen was 4 or 5 times the size of the guests kitchen. We weren't able to use this facility which was a shame

Loved the atmosphere. Plenty of space to hang out with others outside and great hammocks. Breakfast was good and consisted of cake, fruit, bread, and other standards. Lockers were solid, showers were hot, and beds good. Kitchen was really small and didn't have adequate pans - they should get a new large pan with a handle. Wifi was a bit spotty and slow but you're on a small island so just expect that and you'll be fine. I enjoyed my stay.

Chilled out authentic island hostel. Be aware of the steep walk up the hill to get there, but the hammocks make it worth while!

Surprisingly good hostel in Ilha Grande. A bit of a walk from the beach but worth it when you get there as it's very secluded and calm. It was quiet in the evenings but it's a really short walk into town if you're looking for something a bit more lively. They did a great breakfast and the staff were helpful.

Breakfasts were the best :) nice chilled vibes but still good interaction. So clean and nice. There were bats in the roof but they sorted it immediately! It's a little hike from the main area but not a lot.
