the place closes for cleaning at 11 am and everyone has to leave and take off for 5 hours,it put a big damper on the stay. it was hard not to come back after waking up early and take a nap, also it limited going out at night, because so much time was spent going out in the daytime, before i was ready to go , taking all my stuff, making sure i had everything, and after lunch i had to find extra things to do to kill time, by the time i got back i was exhausted and it did not leave time for dinner

very nice and frieddly place, not far from everything! Just staid for one night there, but everything was good!

I was going to stay there for 2 nights, but I checked out after the first. There was a very smelly and noisy person in the room. I couldn't sleep all night. The staff was very friendly and the place was very simple, but ok to stay overnight.

Super convenient to the railway station if you're doing the 774 pacific surfliner or other train. Unfortunately hostel is closed until late afternoon so you need to sit with your gear for a long time after the train arrives from San Fran waiting for hostel to reopen.

Only stayed overnight but noticed this is a "real" hostel with excellent facilities for folks staying longer -- good large clean kitchen, well located, friendly staff and visitors. SLObispo very cute -- would highly recommend this hostel there -- seemed to be a lot of knowledgeable cyclists staying.

Very nice, friendly and motivated staff!

This is a great little hostel, small and with a very convivial vibe. It's in a quiet area too, with plenty of street parking if you're driving, and only a few blocks from downtown.

Had a lovely stay at HI-Hostel Obispo as a stop over on my road trip down the coast. Staff were wonderful and rooms were extremely clean. Had a very homely feel and was a short walk to the heart of downtown SLO. Felt more like I was staying at a mate's place rather than a hostel Thanks for a lovely stay- Libby

The rooms are big with a lot of beds... In some hostels this is not a problem, but here the rooms were cold and with only a very small window. The common space is so big but at least quite cosy, but if you leave the big lights on in the evening you feel like in a hospital... A bit of music would be nice! And the staff was hidden in their own private space instead of mixing with the guests, like happens in other hostels... Computer is PAYING!!!

Great little place. Really nice staff and good atmosphere.

Friendly staff, delicious pancakes for breakfast, clean rooms.

Security of the hostel was great, however, the 'lock out' time between 10am and 4pm can be a little inconvenient, we were not aware of this before we stayed.

This was the best hostel, we stayed during our trip. Rooms are rather rudimental, kitchen was not super clean and there are not enough showers for all people, but the location and the total package are great.

Delicious pancakes. Had a good time. Friendly staff!

This hostel feels more like a cosy home than a hostel, what with the pancake breakfast, welcoming atmosphere, and friendly staff. I have to mention one guy in particular, Andrew I think, who was very helpful and genuinely interested in people. One thing that might be helpful would be a place people could drop their bags while waiting for the evening check in time perhaps? Apart from that an excellent hostel and a must while in lovely SLO!

San Luis Obispo is a great little town, and this hostel had a nice relaxed atmosphere to it.

Nice hostel in a cute area, very clean!

wasn't aware that check in was after 4.30 and that we'd be 'locked out' from 11-4.30 during the day. still, at least that made me go and definately find a mountain to climb. SLO is a great town and this is a charming hostel that matches the town well. very friendly and helpful staff. easy walking distance to bus, amtrak and town. I'd stay here again

The hostel was in a great area in SLO. It was because it was in this area that despite not having a key for the dorm, it still felt secure. The decor etc was a little dated. The kitchen was good, and the layout to the dining room made it easy to meet other travelers. However, while the staff were nice enough, there were a few occasions where one felt like it was the staff who lived there and that we the guests, were intruding.

This is one of my favorite hostels so far. I liked the homy atmosphere!
