About HI-Jasper
HI-Jasper is located half way up the Whistlers Mountain 7km from the Jasper town centre in the UNESCO World Heritage Site Jasper National Park.
Perched on the side of Whistler's Mountain, this is the place in Jasper to connect with nature and other like-minded adventure seeking travelers. The mountain peak out the front door begs to be climbed, the trailhead is only steps away. How can you resist?
Before you head up to the hostel, pick up your groceries and beer in town, then later enjoy the social atmosphere as you cook dinner alongside fellow hostellers. Plan the trails for the next day, join in with others, share the adventures to be had outdoors or head into town for a night out. This is human nature at its finest.

Jasper is a much quieter, peaceful and less traveled town compared to its popular neighbour to the south, yet it matches equally in natural splendor.
Jasper is not just a National Park - this quaint and charming town offers a little of everything to its visitors, and is uniquely inviting, appealing and refreshing. The so-called downtown area (two short streets) allows visitors to soak up the small town atmosphere and the distinct style of local hospitality that Jasper has to offer. 'Nightlife' consists of a fun, chilled-out evening, outside on the hostel patio, with the mountains and the setting sun in the background. Once the sun is down, enjoy the campfire as hostellers share their jokes and days adventures well in to the wee hours of the morning. You will be hard-pressed not to enjoy the slower pace of life here and guaranteed to enjoy the personality and flavour that shapes this small mountain town. The Jasper experience could be best explained as 'authentic mountain town'. This isn't your typical ski-resort destination, it's more trucks, dogs and townies.
Escaping crowds, tourists, commercialism and a pumping nightlife, Jasper yields an attractive alternative for anyone seeking a small town retreat or wilderness escape. One of four National Parks, the most amazing vistas that this National Park is renowned for, can be seen as you drive the world famous Icefield Parkway, from Banff towards Jasper,. The thunderous Sunwapta and Athabasca Falls mark the edge between Banff and Jasper National Parks and be sure to get the up close and personal experience with the Columbia Icefields.
Located on the edge of the great outdoors, there are three HI Wilderness properties located within a 30km radius of HI-Jasper: HI-Maligne Canyon, HI-Mount Edith Cavell and HI-Athabasca Falls. Adding a night or two at one of these surrounding wilderness hostels makes it easier to experience the mountains nestled in the Jasper National Park without having to pack camping gear. These hostels hold HI-Rustic Hostelling International Quality Standards, and provide a warm bed under a roof with linen, pillows and blankets provided, and a self-catering kitchen. They're the true local's secret, where we disappear from the masses and restore our soul.
TIP: Canadian VIA rail stops in the town ofJasper town making this a practical and obvious choice in your Canadian rail journey. Not traveling by train is missing out on one of Canada's best travel experiences.
Attention international guests: To use hostels you should be a member of a national Youth Hostel Association recognized by the International Youth Hostel Federation.

If you are not a member, you are required to either
- pay non-member rate ($4 CDN more each night)
- purchase a Membership when you arrive at the hostel for $24 CDN (one year membership for international guests) or ($29 for a two year membership for Canadian guests) or
- purchase a membership from the nearest Youth Hostel Association Office before you start your journey
