NOTE: ALCOHOL FREE HOSTEL!! Pretty much says it's all. If your looking for a fun time to social and meet others, don't stay here. If you would like a quiet place to stay then it's perfect. Great faculties, breakfast and beds. But if your up for a fun time, look elsewhere, no alcohol and too many common rooms, lack of social activities makes it difficult to interact and meet other travellers.

Its right on the beach, walking distance from the pier and endless shopping and restaurants. Pub crawl was fun and all the tours stop at the hostel. The rooms with en-suite bathrooms were spacious and clean. I do not suggest the VIP limo tour, unless you just want to pay $50 to ride there and back in a limo. But don't expect all the free drinks and club cover charges. The tour guide bought one cheap bottle of vodka for 20+ people and the clubs were all free entry.

Thanks for taking the time to write us a review. It's great to see that you were able to enjoy one of our pub crawls and that we could help you indulge in a little bit of what Santa Monica has to offer. We're sorry to see that the limo wasn't up to par. You're absolutely right, one bottle of cheap vodka is not enough for 20 people! We're going to forward your feedback to the guys that run the club hop. Thanks again and we hope to see you the next time you're in LA!

mattresses were not comfortable, they should be upgraded a little too pricey for a hostel in general especially for a private room, $129 and you don't get your own bathroom! overall nice facility, nice ambiance in the common areas, friendly staff, nice big kitchen

One of the greatest things about hostelling is meeting people from all over the world. It's great to see that you had an awesome time with us, hopefully you were able to soak up some rays at the beach! Thank you for the awesome review and please come see us again soon!

This is a very nice hostel, perfect location, clean and quiet. My only complaint is the price seemed quite high for a hostel. $55 for room of 4-6 beds.

It's great to hear that you enjoyed our hostel and our lovely little city. We're sorry to see that you found the price unreasonable. We do offer 8-10 bed dorm rooms which are about $10 less per night. We want you to know that we strive to maintain an affordable rate for all of our travelers. Please come and stay with us again soon!

It's in a nice place with nice staff but it lacks an atmosphere. I'd say something like a BBQ in the courtyard would allow people to mix more freely rather than having people sit on opposite sides of tables at breakfast not speaking

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. We actually do have BBQ nights, all you can eat pasta nights, pancake breakfasts, and a weekly schedule of outings that includes pub crawls, city tours, and museum days. We hope that you will come back again soon so that we can show you a great time!

We only stayed here for 1 night as we had a stopover in LA. The hostel is in a great location. Only a 5 minute walk from 3rd street promenade and about 10 minutes from Santa Monica pier. The staff are really helpful and the hostel is very clean and has great facilities. There are many cosy common areas to hang out and the breakfast which is provided is great. There is toast, bagels, fruit and yoghurt, cereal and juice and coffee.

Thank you for tasking the time to write us a great review! It's great to see that you enjoyed our breakfast and that our staff members were able to make your stay enjoyable. We're sorry to see that you could only stay for one night though. Summer is only four months away, we'd love for you to come back and enjoy a warm weekend (or week long) getaway with us!

Amazing location and very good premises. Atmosphere and breakfast were uninspiring though. US price for dorm bed (excessive).

Great location in Santa Monica - right by Third Street Promenade and the beach and pier. Easy walk to everything! Staff were lovely and super helpful. Had to pay for luggage storage of more than 2 hours after checking out which was a bit of a bummer. But great communal areas - kitchen, lounge rooms and a lovely fire for reading next to! Beds were super comfy and bathrooms were clean.

Walking around is one of the best ways to enjoy everything beautiful Santa Monica has to offer. It's great to hear that you enjoyed our lovely hostel and our city by the sea! We know that storage fees can be a bummer but we do offer free storage until 1:00pm for our departing guests and up to 24 hours of storage for only $5. We're glad that you got some reading in by our fire place and had a comfy nights sleep in your bed. Please come and stay with us again soon. Safe travels!

Not enough activities for tourists on their own. Breakfast was very average and being in a room with 9 others wasn't an enjoyable experience.

We're sorry to hear that you didn't have a great experience with us. We actually offer different activities every day which include city tours, pub crawls, a food truck night, BBQ's, hikes and museum days. Our 10 bed dorms can definitely fill up fast, although shared space and a communal setting is an essential part of hostelling. We do offer 4 and 6 bed dorms as well as private rooms for travelers that like their space. We hope that you will give us another chance the next time you're in LA.

Best part is the location -- right near beach, pier, 3rd street promenade. Cost $1 to get to from LAX via bus. Great hostel, although too expensive: including all taxes and fees it costs me $50/night as a non-member in a 6-bed dorm. Showers don't have heat options, it's just an on/off knob, so they are warm but not hot. Dorm rooms are great -- every bed has its own outlets and light. Wifi is good. Bonus points for charming open areas like a fireplace room and atrium. Decent breakfast.

Thank you for the feedback! Great to see that you enjoyed our delicious breakfast and that you were able to get cozy by our fireplace. We're sorry that you found our prices unreasonable. We strive very hard to offer the most affordable accommodations near the beach. We also want you to know that we're finalizing some remodels for our bathrooms which are going to take care of any water temp issues you might have had with the showers. Please come and stay with us again soon. Safe travels!

This is a really nice hostel, however it is a Hi-Hostel. As a Hi-Hostel they have figured out how to make everything so efficient and predictable that the hostel has no soul or character. However, the location is decent and the breakfast is ok. The hostel is a little on the pricey side. If you want a hostel that is actually interesting and not out to simply make a profit I wouldn't recommend this hostel. Also, the hostel is so huge and cold it is really hard to meet people.

Thank'sfor taking the time to give us some feedback. We want all of our guests to have a great time and enjoy new experiences. We cater to a wide variety of travelers, including families with children, 20-somethings, teens, and older hostellers. That being said, we have the safety and comfort of over 200 people to keep in mind every day, certain aspects that might seem boring or predictable within our hostel actually play a larger role in maintaining a safe atmosphere for everyone staying here.

My stay was excellent while I was there. The staff were beyond helpful. The breakfast included (toast, mini bagels, yogurt, cereal and canned peaches) A minor suggestion to take this hostel a step higher assorted menu selections of both hot and cold breakfast. Waffle/pancakes, fresh fruit, oatmeal, and or pastry danishes. Those would mean the world to travelers.I loved the fact the hostel was literally a block away from the beach. Many of food places and store near by that came in handy.

This hostel has great location for the value, right at the center of Santa Monica and near to everything. You can pretty much walk to most of the points of interest. Staff are very helpful and awesome. Hostel often organizes fun events at discounted rates such as hiking and sightseeing. They are pretty insightful about what to do in Santa Monica and the LA area. Had a great time there interacting with the staff and meeting up with the other guests.
