Though it’s located just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, HI-Marin Headlands truly feels a world away. Set in a coastal wilderness and steeped in more than 100 years of American military history, this hostel offers a secluded escape just 20 minutes from the city. By day, hike the Headlands’ open meadows, bike the coastal mountainside, tour historic military sites, or head to one of the many local beaches. By night, sleep in turn-of-the-century buildings surrounded by eucalyptus trees and nestled into the hills of the Headlands.

This Certified Green hostel offers accommodation in shared dorms, private rooms, and private family rooms. Guests enjoy use of shared facilities included two fully equipped kitchens, a cozy lounge with wood-burning stove, and a yoga room.

Other on-site amenities include:
*Free Wi-Fi
*Free parking
*Free linens and towels
*Free bag and bike storage

Just outside the hostel’s door, the Marin Headlands – part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area – offers a wealth of outdoor adventures. In addition to hiking and biking trails, pristine beaches, and ample opportunities for bird-watching, the Headlands boast some of the best views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and the City by the Bay. The Headlands also border several other popular destinations, including Muir Woods, where you can hike among the coastal redwoods, and Mount Tamalpais, famous for its panoramic views of San Francisco.
Nearby shopping and dining options are just 5 miles away in the coastal town of Sausalito. San Francisco is just a short drive or bike ride away over the Golden Gate Bridge, and is also reachable by ferry from Sausalito.

PLEASE NOTE: public transportation from San Francisco to the Marin Headlands is currently only available on weekends.
