The hostel itself was absolutely ok. Had a large living room seemed rather friendly. Still, the staff was very incompetent. They managed my canceled booking and the new one wrongly and said it was hostelworld's fault though i explained it couldn't (as later verified) as data here is correct. Neverthess, they made me pay for the first one though i suspect they saw their mistake but were booked out so pretended to be innocent themselves.. Very rude and Poor!

It was simple and spartan but that was all I needed, a place to sleep and leave in the morning. The other men in the room I shared were quiet and I slept pretty well. At times I could hear seals barking down at the bay, a couple of blocks away but that was just part of the ambiance. There is a large co-ed common room, for reading or socializing; I didn't need it or use it, but it seemed to have a nice atmosphere. I would rank it as one of the better hostels.

Loved the hostel. Exactly what we needed. Staff member (I think it is David?) is extremely helpful and friendly and made it a pleasure to stay there :)

I had a good time, but I felt because management was aware that lots of us, probably more than 50% of everyone who was staying there this weekend was attending the Monterey Jazz Festival, adjusting the mandatory return time one hour, it would have been extremely helpful. I had to leave my "last concert of the night",the main performer, had to leave at 11:30pm to be taken by "handicapp golf cart" to bus to take me to parking to drive back to hostel before 1am. 2am would allow me to finish concert
