I arrived on the 1st of January with two friends and immediately our impressions took a bad turn. No hot water throughout the hostel and the staff didn't know when the problem would be fixed. To make matters worse, our dorm room was so tiny that one person would barely have enough room, never mind three. To close the bathroom door, we had to twist ourselves against the shower and the toilet. The so called bar crawl laughably consisted of only two pubs and was depressingly tame.

Bonjour, First of all, I apologize for all the hassle… We always try to be ready for all possible situations, but honestly we did not expect a water tank break on January 1st, when all the plumbers in town were on holidays. We managed that issue the best and quickest we could, but I understand it was not the best situation for the guests... Now the good news is that it is all fixed and it should not be a problem for the next couple of years! Yeah!! Regarding our rooms, they have all different sizes and if some could be tight for 3 tall males, we should be more vigilant when we assign the beds at check-in… I'll make sure to pass the message along! As for our free daily activities, I'm sorry some were not up to your expectations. Now, the other good news is that we've just promoted one of our senior staff to the programming coordination position… Knowing him, I'm sure that he will help to raise the quality standards of the activities (including the pub crawl) for the benefit of all! Finally, I would like to thank you for your feedbacks as it is the best way for us to move on with improvements, Nicolas , Manager HI-Montréal

This is one of my favorite hostels! One caveat: If you are not an HI member then it's going to cost between $8-$10 more per night than the cost that's quoted on Hostelworld.

This was a great place. I have stayed at 3 or 4 hostels over the past few years and this was the best one. It is a bit expensive, but they upgrade me and two of my pals into a private room for free so definitely worth the money. Everything was great but I would recommend to bring your own sheets because the ones they provided were clean but a bit scratchy. Overall very good experience.

This was my first experience at a hostel and in saying so, it was a great one. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the facilities were very clean, and I always felt safe and secure. This hostel is very suitable for young travelers looking for an economical place to stay. The only downfall was that the cafe/bar did not accept credit cards/ visa.

Welll, the location is good but in the winter it is so cold. I could'nt sleep well at night due to the weak heat.

Bonjour, Thanks for leaving your feedbacks! Unfortunately, there isn't much I can do about the outdoor temperature.. :)) As for the temperature indoor though, we should have better informed you that each rooms are equiped with it's own thermostat to adjust to the best temerature possible... I'll pass the word along to the front desk! Thanks you and Bon Voyage! Nic, hostel manager

We loved the staff and the whole hostel has very friendly atmosphere. But we ordered 10 bed female and shared room with males! - We were really glad we didn't have to stay much longer in that condition. Otherwise awesome, even for next time it will be our number one choice. Thank you! :-)

This was my second stay with the hostel. It was just as good as the last. I really enjoy the staff. They are all very helpful and accommodating. I also purchased a Hi membership. It was about 30 dollars (for a US Membership). It was well worth it because the discount applied to all of us in our group. There were 6 of us.

Overall, nice hostel.. Many activities organized by the hostel staff. Nice to get to know people if you are travelling alone. The only negative thing is that I was charged 5$ more per day because I didn\'t have the HI member card. Besides, it was a little bit misleading as that information was not displayed properly. Another thing has dissapointed me is that the breakfast was not included.

the hostel was great, everything about it. we were able to hang out in the 'common' area and met lots of new people even when our stay was one night. only thing is for the lockers - you have to bring your own lock.
