For the price you pay there are far better options in La paz. There is no atmosphere, the sheets look dirty, the mattresses thin and sunken and the breakfast is even more basic than you would expect in Bolivia. Plus sides are the location is good and its quiet if you want a good nights sleep
We booked a private room with a shared bathroom and found our room i(box) inside a ten bed dorm. The room was lovely and snugly but it didn't seem private enough so I think the price was too much for it. The bread in the morning breakfast is always stake. Every time you had a shower, a nasty smell would come out so that needed sorting. It was a great place to chill!
Although the location was good and the hostel was certainly clean, the private room was not exactly what I expected: a class room inside the dorm concealed by curtains. The lack of proper walls makes it feel like you are in the dorm as the light comes though the very thing curtains and you can hear everything from the slightest conversation to the sounds of someone in the bathroom. This rather defeats the purpose of paying for a private room!

The security code at the frint door is not active so that everybody can easily enter the hostel at anytime. Also, wehen we left our baggage at the front desk for a day it was obvious that nobody verified who had access to the bags. Anybody could just have taken them. Note to the Hostal: the guest computer is full of viruses, spam ads, etc. You might wish to "clean" the computer. Other than that: great hostal!!

I really enjoyed this hostel. It was very clean, the kitchen and common rooms were nice and comfortable. The staff was friendly (although they don´t speak much English, so that could be a problem for some). The bathroom was the cleanest I´ve seen at any hostel. Centrally located, but still feels safe for a single woman traveling alone. Good place to meet young people, but not a party hostel. Comfy beds and nice comforters. Overall great experience. This hostel is conveniently located but beware that the rooms and bed clothes are not clean. Although there is a decent selection for breakfast for Bolivia there is no organisation to it so some of the time bread or cereal runs out as guest are left to themselves to self serve. Also note that the Double Private room with shared bathroom is not a private room. It is a loft area in the 8 bed dorm and simply has a shutter to pull over to separate it. You have to go up a ladder to access it.
