Cool hostel!! for me it was a new experience sleeping in a tiny, private cell (years ago it was a real jail). Also there's a free 1 hour tour to the dark side of the jail.

I had a fantastic time in the hostel. It was a great experience to spend a night in a tiny jail cell to see what it would be like!

This hostel clearly has a very good sense of humour! It's one of those places that you can obviously pay less and afford all the fun, you're sleeping in prison right? Also, staff is very humble, menu in the breakfast is very reasonable, location right in downtown. I slept in the single private cell and I will admit that the room was solid secure, small just about right and worth experiencing. If there's anything I'm proud to say upon "release", it's to tell my friends that I slept in prison!

Didn't like that there wasn't lockers in the rooms, wasn't able to lock up any valuables, there was some diwn stairs but it's hardly partical when your on the 7th floor.

We were on the 9th floor which was very spotty wifi access and no bathroom in the room, but these weren't very big detractors. The jail is huge and old, so if you know that going in you'll be set. Very cool place and FANTASTIC staff and breakfast

Cool hostel to experience, but not for someone on a budget trip. You are paying a pretty high price for the "coolness" of staying in a jail. It's small, claustrophobic to some people probably, and not exactly meant to be pleasant. The common rooms and kitchen however were very nice.

A great use of an historic building. The stafstaff were all quite helpful and good-natured.

I know the hostel was a jail and I had stayed there before. But charging more than 40 dollars to sleep in a bedroom that fits only the bed is too much. Besides that the guy in the night shift was dry and non-friendly behavior. Knowing how to work with public is a gift that he doesn't have. For this price the parking could be included, but no, I had to pay extra 12 dollars for overnight parking. The wifi connection was also poor. The metal doors make a very loud noise when you shut them.

A lil pricey, but everything else is great! Good location, not far from bus terminal; situated at downtown area. Staff are friendly, stayed in the cozy single private jail cell. Would definitely stay here again if ever I'm back!

decent place and nice breakfast. interesting stay because it was a jail. DO THE TOUR AFTER YOU HAVE SLEPT THERE (otherwise it would be scary). i mean yeah, it was an experience. but it was so loud so i couldn't actually get to sleep in the jail cell. i didn't really enjoy the stay but i guess it was an interesting experience. as others said, do not stay for more than 1 night. the dorms are quieter than the cell so do that and just visit the cells.

Very cool hostel however the novelty wore off quite quickly: the beds were noisy and very awkward to get in and out of. The corridor light was on all night and other guests were really noisy late into the night. I'd recommend 1 night.

I really enjoyed my stay at the hostel. Rooms were good size, beds were fine, it was super warm in the whole complex, which was good because I was there in November. Such a good location to lots of things, I was travelling solo and felt super safe. The kitchen was perfect to make your own lunch/dinners! Plus the breakfast was awesome too!

Nice, chilled out hostel. Great location, has kept a lot of the original jail decor which makes it pretty unique!

The location is great and it's an interesting to stay in a jail. The Internet connection breaks down quite often though and you will be charged an additional $5 pp if you don't have à membership card. I couldn't find this little detail anywhere when i was booking the hostel! Staff is nice and breakfast delicious. All in all recommandable for a short stay.

Friendly staff, free breakfast better than most of the hostel breakfast i had, i dont mind the narrow room, but the only catch is that you may be bothered by people walking outside when you try to sleep.

I enjoy my stay at the hostel. Staffs are incredible amazing. Location is great, just a few steps away from transportations and landmarks. Hostel pub crawl was the best thing I had in Ottawa! I met so many amazing people!

For one the Staff were terrific! As for the hostel not only was it steeped with history, but the layout works great. Wide corridors on the cell floors gave an added spacious feel, it is a dream place to stay. Wonderfully clean and loaded with friendly vibes, the lobby works great for catching up with people too. Five-star!

It should be pointed out that the doors of the rooms are not the real doors, but the real cell-like, so you hear everything what's going on on the corridor and other rooms. There's no problem that there's no windows and the rooms are small, beacuse you expect that, but the doors were a huge upleasent surprise (I didn't see it on the pictures). The hostel is fine for a sense of humour and very original atmosphere but they should show exactly what the inside looks like
