It's bit far from center. There is excellent kitchen with nice view to old town. Breakfast was good and hostel was clean. The biggest problem was lady which couldn't speak and understand a word in English, and hardly understood my Spanish. If you'll go there learn some words in Portuguese ;-)

it is totally overpriced. staff does not speak a word of english. it is very hard to get to, you definitely need a taxi and still have to climb some stairs. if you want to store your luggage they charge you 5 reais!

Lovely views, directions to Hostel not very clear, we had to ask a lot on way down. Staff friendly, and the views!!! If you can splash out a bit more, pick a superior, they have balconies. Its basic but the price reflects it and we thought it was excellent value, good breakfast and well equipped kitchen

The best part of this hostel was the kitchen! Spacious with a great view of the town. Very clean, but you have to wash your own clothes (this is coming from someone who needed badly to wash!). Be aware that the staff rerally do not speak english or spanish, but are very kind and helpful (once they understand you). If your walking to the hostel on your own, careful with the streets. They are all down hill, remember that if you walk back up with your backpack. Best to get a taxi to the bus terminal, anywhere
