The Northwest hostel is in a lovely spot, but it can be a bit far from downtown if you're walking, but transport is close by. The staff were so friendly and the room was cold, but good - there were lockers for everyone and good kitchen facilities.

Even though I have stayed only for a night, everything was pretty much ok. No complaints about anything in particular, so I would definitely recommend.

Hostel is in a great spot, close to lots of cafes and breweries and really clean. Definitely recommend Bridgeport Brew Pub, the beer is excellent and food very affordable.

My stay at Northwest Hostel was really nice. It is located in a relatively quiet place and only 10 minutes by foot from downtown which is, for me, perfect. Breakfast was simple, but with such a good bread(the best I've tasted in the USA in 3 months), who could complain? There is just one thing, I don't understand the rules about alcohol: why is it only permitted in one kitchen and why only until 10 pm? But there are enough bars outside, so it not a big problem. In two words: very good

Overall, had a good stay here. It\'s located in a trendy neighborhood in NW near lots of restaurants and bars. Plan on at least a 15 min walk if you\'re dragging luggage from Amtrak. Much easier walk to the light rail stop for the airport. You\'ll need public transit to get downtown in SW or rent a bike. My bike was a decent hybrid, no suspension so not a great offroader. Used the full kitchen to save money on eating out. Not at all a party hostel, quiet time at 10pm and no booze after 10pm.

At first, I thought this place was going to be too far away from the neighborhoods I wanted to explore, but it ended-up being the perfect location for staying in Portland. Nob Hill/The Alphabet District is now my favorite neighborhood, and the hostel is minutes from everything you need - Pearl District, train/bus/ parks, etc. I would highly recommend staying here - the staff is friendly and there is more than enough info around the hostel to help you plan your stay.

Super clean hostel, but could've used more bathrooms. After spending two nights here, it felt like my second home and I was really sad to leave this hostel. Also, they sell day passes for the buses for $5 at the front counter.

Overall good experience and helpful staff. Provided me with tips on activities around the city, but disappointed about the lack of activities that the hostel provided to their guests. This hostel said its specifically meant for a younger crowd, but that wasn't the case for me.

The staff here were very helpful and there were plenty of great amenities, like a usable kitchen (unlike the closet you see in a lot of places), indoor and outdoor space, a secure luggage room and a ton of great information posted on the walls. Free bread up for grabs in the kitchen doesn't hurt either!

Very clean hostel, with loads of helpful information and amenities available. Rooms were very cold at night, but spare blankets are made available for the guests. Wish I'd known it the first night!
