HI - Sacramento

Step back in time at HI-Sacramento, a beautifully restored Victorian mansion at the heart of the state capital. Most of the hostel feels more like a bed and breakfast -- two elegant parlors boast original woodwork and comfortable seating, upstairs dorm rooms feature classic Victorian fireplaces and tile work, and a central mahogany-railed staircase and mezzanine overlook the lobby beneath a huge painted-glass skylight.

Take in the hostel's Gold Rush era details, and then wander the wide tree-lined city streets -- the Capitol is just four blocks away, historic Old Sacramento's museums and riverfront dining are 10 blocks away, and the restaurant, music, and shopping scene of the hip Midtown district is eight blocks away.

Once you've explored the city, relax in the Gold Country sun at one of Sacramento's parks or on the beach at nearby Lake Natomas, hop on a bike to explore the popular American River Parkway, or join a whitewater rafting excursion.

Then come back to enjoy the hostel's amenities, including free WiFi, free linens and towels, air conditioning, guest parking, bag and bike storage, a full kitchen, and laundry facilities.

Hostelling International is a non-profit membership organization promoting peace though hostelling since 1909. To maintain our low-overhead and to be able to offer low-budget accommodations to as many people as possible, non-members will be asked to pay a $3 non-membership fee per night upon check-in.

VERY IMPORTANT:
Check-in is approximately 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., baggage storage is available.

A government issued picture ID is required for check-in. International guests need a passport and domestic guests need a state issued photo ID that is not expired. NO LOCAL RESIDENTS. Guests must live outside a 30-mile radius of the hostel.

HI-Sacramento has a policy of 14 days maximum stay in a calendar year. No more than 7 combined days can be used in a calendar month. A 30 day period away from the hostel must be taken before the remaining 7 days may be used.

Guests staying beyond 3 nights MUST purchase a membership.

There is 24-hour access to the hostel once you have checked in.
