Good place to stay while you're in Sacramento. It's located near Downtown in a mansion. Pretty nice. The rooms are nice and the restrooms too.

I stayed for for 3 nights just after Easter and it was really quiet. This is a nice, good value hostel located right in the centre of town. The mansion is a fantastic place to stay, thye kitchen is recently updated and very clean. My room was quiet small, but as it was just me, I didn't mind. My only criticism would be the breakfast, it's hardly 'continental', however it was nice to have some free food in the morning. There are supermarkets nearby and food isn't that expensive.

All round great hostel. Not much going on when I was there but that's maybe the time of year? Best part about the place is that it kinda looks like The Munsters house.

Very beautiful building, very nice people working there, kitchen is great, clean and lots of space

Beautiful building, inside and out, in a great location in Sacramento. The place is clean and also offers parking at five dollars a day, which is a good deal for the price. My only complaints are the quality of the bedding materials - very old mattresses with wiry springs that you can feel right through the sheets, and scraggly roughly cut felt blankets. The breakfast is also rather simple compared to other hostels - an English muffin, a Granny smith apple, oatmeal packets, and a cup of Joe.

The location was great. Easy to walk everywhere. The atmosphere was really quiet, which was nice because I don't like noisy hostels but then again I might have gotten lucky. I was in a room of 10 and I was the only one there the first night. Which was awesome. There was no hot water in the womens shower both days. I showered in the mens shower one of the days but since there was almost no one there it wasn't an issue.

This is a great hostel, it has a lot of character and is perfectly located. Fom there, everything is at a walking distance (both downtown and old Sacramento). The bus to the airport is just 2$. I stayed in a 10 bed dormitory, but the room was so spacious and airy that it didn't look like a dormitory at all. Bathrooms were clean and the bed sheets too (maybe a bit old). I would recommend this hostel not only to backpackers. I would definitely stay there again.

This hostel needs less mission statements and quotes about being accepting and more actual amenities for the guests. The dorm I was in faced the street and only had lace curtains - directly opposite an office building that left its lights on all night. The showers reached what could charitably be called "tepid" - and the staff on being questioned initially said to wait longer, then said that if we wanted hot water we had to shower in the basement.

The private room is ok for its price but I guess i expected more for how much i paid, like a better bed maybe. This my was second time staying there, with my first in a dorm style room. the house is beautiful, parking is cheap, location is good, the piano is in need of a serious tuning, overall i recommend as a great hostel for a layover between places as sacramento is go for 3 days max in things to do.

Relatively expensive for hostel prices given that it was not the greatest. Sacramento can be sketchy at night which is not the fault of the hostel but the hostel is in the areas a little ways away from downtown and there is a lot of sketchiness you have to pass by before you can get to the more crowded happening areas. I stayed in the gold nugget room that was NOT worth the price of $45 a night or so that I paid; I have sat in bigger bathtubs, the room smelled old, and the lighting was poor.
