Great place to stay in downtown San Fran. You get nice white towels on arrival which is a treat. They also do breakfasts that include bagels, spreads, fruit, cereals, coffee and tea. Rooms are bigger than your average hostel (double private, shared bathroom). The facilities were always clean and a water cooler which came in handy. Only down side was that it was a little dull, and mingling didn't seem to be encouraged. That said, I would definitely recommend to future travellers.
Very nice hostel, ultra central location, helpful staff, but like the most part of central San Francisco, there are a lot of homeless people around in that area. Though, we didn't have any problems with them!
Please fix the drain and the plumbing! We stayed in a private room for three people and the room was way too small for our luggage. The location was good, very near the F tram line that goes through practically everywhere. And maybe cleaning can be done more frequently. There are some very bad sights that one might stumble into in the bathroom. And, if you don't want us to bring the sheets, DON'T TELL US TO BRING THE SHEETS.
hostel in the middle of downtown, right next to the tenderloin which can be iffy depending on time of day however i had no problems here. rooms felt abit small especially the lockers which ment someone was always lacking a place to put their valuables. the common areas in the hostel were nice and had good tours on through the week. the staff seemed very miserable while i was there which didnt give the best vibes. compared to the other hostels ive stayed in SF i probably wouldnt stay here again.
Great place to stay, comfortable beds, great staff, good breakfast - fresh bagels, fruit and oats. Great location! Would definitely come back and stay again.
Super friendly staff! Great place to stay if you travel alone, there is stuff to sign up for every night. They provide free coffee, breakfast and the wifi worked perfectly. The new dorm bunk beds has huge lockers underneath where you can lock in all your stuff, and lights/power outlets for each bed.

The lockers are REALLY small. I didn't feel safe leaving my luggage in the room.
Like other HI hostels I've stayed at this has loads of facilities but lacks character. Seems like it attracts slightly older travellers. Nice bagels for breakfast.
This is a great hostel in a good location. Only down point is the excessive amount of homeless people in the general area. What I mean by that (apart from the sadness of their situation) is that it can appear unsafe for people travelling alone. Obviously there isn't anything the hostel can do about that. Apart from that this place is great. Links to the train, tram and bus as well as Union Square and surrounding areas. Great place to stay and will definitely come back!
Location and location! Good hostel with lots of events!
Really good hostel, clean and well run.
Hostel was generally very good - friendly and helpful staff, nice breakfast, comfortable room, great location. Only minor criticisms were that several of the toilets and showers were out of order, so it was hard to find one at peak times in the morning. Also, some of the locks weren't working well - I apologise profusely to the lady I accidentally walked in on in the shower.
Eh place was okay. I mean it's super clean and safe and the food is good but not the best place to meet people. Multiple nights went to the common room and everyone was just on there iphones or ipads and no one was talking to anyone...isn't that the point of hostels? To talk to people? I don't it may just have been my experience but wasn't the friendliest hostel or best place to meet people and the Asian guy receptionist was rude multiple times, not sure why, the rest of the staff was very nice.
Great; safe location, helpful staff, good value for the area, and clean and tidy. The only thing is the showers seemed to be out of order a lot, but it wasn't a problem as there was always a spare one. There are lots of free tours, and there is a taco night which is $5 with a beer too! Free healthy breakfast. A big thumbs up.

The staff didn't seem to be good at helping to find things to do other than drink.
The only complaint I would have about this hostel is that the showers were quite dirty but not the worst I've seen. Location is awesome, the rooms were clean, beds and pillows were comfy. Free breakfast was pretty good as well!
This was pretty much all round a good hostel. They had a lot of social events, nice breakfast, good location, secure, sinks in the bedrooms, big kitchen and large seating/TV areas. The floor I was on only had 2 toilets and 2 showers (others were being fixed) but didn't really turn out to be a problem and they were usually clean. Also, a slight warning, they put the prices up quite a lot if they are getting full!
Awesome hostel! The included breakfast is fantastic, the staff are great, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I would totally stay here again when I'm back in San Francisco :)
very pleased -- fantastic location, value, and cleanliness!
