It's a charming litle place in walking distance to the skytrain, which connects to all other parts of Bangkok. The staff is really nice and helps you with all your questions, you get a good map of Bangkok and recommendations. Hi-Sukhumvit is also next to the Soi38 Night Market, which is perfect to have cheap dinner in local atmosphere! The rooms are cute and clean!

The hotel is in a great place for shopping, street food & china town but not so much for main attractions. Upon arrival I was given keys and directions to my room, however no orientation of the hostel itself was given, therefore finding such things as the kitchen etc was by guessing or having to ask a question every time. The room doors don`t automatically lock and there is only a small locker provided. The day time staff need to seem more engaged with the customers & smile more too.
We stayed in the HI Sukhumvit twice, in a double bed room with a shared bathroom. The staff were most helpful in providing information on places to go and how to get to them. The location, a hundred feet from the night food market and the Thong Lo Sky Train station were real pluses. The room was basic but adequate to our needs. The shared bathrooms were kept clean. The hostel has one of the nicest common rooms I've seen in a hostel. The breakfasts were good.
The privacy curtains on each bunk were great. Nicely decorated. Breakfast was reasonable. Nice area though a bit far from old town, where most of the touriet attractions are. Cold showers, but that was fine in hot hot hot Bangkok!
Good : Location, Shared toilet, near from night food on street. No good: pillow was dirty.
