Nice hostel. Night receptionist was super helpfull and friendly as I arrived at 3 a.m. Great atmosphere, sideal location, good services. Exactly what I needed at the time.

This is quite a good hostel for a large city. Quiet location, good kitchen, quite clean and well maintained with a free breadfast. The dorms rooms are cramped but serviceable. There is no reading lamps in the bunks. It also needs a better socialising lounge room as it quite difficult meeting people with the current arrangements, But overall, a good hostel. I would return and recommend it.

The staff was knowledgeable, helpful and courteous. The place was very clean. The kitchen is big with enough room for many people. It has 4 sinks and 2 stoves and lots of pots and pans. It has a storage room if you don't want to take all of your gear to your room. It's also a very secure place so don't leave your card key in your room. The location is not a few blocks off the party central so if you like peace and quiet it is good but the kitchen/dining area is a good place to meet people.

Turn the heaters down in the rooms!!!

This hostel has the atmosphere of a hospital. It lacks character completely. The hostel is welcoming to older quieter guests but IF YOU ARE YOUNG AND WANT TO HAVE FUN +MEET OTHER TRAVELLERS DON'T STAY HERE! Despite the clinical atmosphere we made a bit of a group on saturday night and started a card game in the common room. It was nice and people started to join in. We were told sternly several times by staff to keep it down. we werent having a crazy party by any means it was just a card game!

Not a party hostel just a nice place to get some sleep.

Average hostel, has all the basic necessities. Wifi internet can be terrible and slow sometimes unless you shell out money to buy 'internet time' on their desktop computers. They won't let you use their ethernet cable for internet though, even if you have your own laptop which is a bit silly, and even when nobody is using them. Other than that, breakfast is good with daily newspapers provided.

The staff were amazing!! So easy to talk to. I enjoyed every day that I was there. Clean and comfortable.

No hot water in shared female showers. Room size depends on which building you are staying. Great place other then that... clean working facilities, heating great, cant wait to go back!

Going to a foreign country for the first time, I was extremely skeptical that my time spent there would be enjoyable. It was more than enjoyable and my fear of not having a good time or meetig people were threw out the window after about two days. The staff at HI-Vancouver Downtown were friendly, helpful and understanding. Not to mention they always had a smile to toss my way. Verena, Mark Eric and Kirsten were among the three that left a lasting impression.

I like this hostel mainly because the staff are kind enough to help me. This was the first time for me to stay at hostel, but I didn't have almost no problems.

I just stayed here one night between catching planes. It was very accessible from the airport if you had some time, and the hostel seemed like it was in a very good location downtown. I felt safe getting in late and leaving early. Mostly just sleept the night though. Seemed nice and safe, small rooms, comfy beds, seemed clean.

Everything was clean and the staff was absolutely amazing! They were very nice and helpful for planning activities or getting information. The people at this hostel were awesome; everyone was very friendly and ready to meet others. I would certainly go back there anytime.

Great location a block from Davie & Thurlow; short walk from downtown and transport, as well as numerous conveniences (drug store, corner store, restaurants, grocery). Much quieter and more relaxed than many other Vancouver hostels, and very well-appointed (library, games room, other common areas, nice kitchen, good shower and toilet facilities). 4 bed dorms. Staff are great. Highly recommended.
