Our 2nd stay here has been good. Met old friends here and new. Staff great and wifi connection also good. Close to Sky Train so nowhere too far away. It was a decent youth hostel. However the price/quality ratio didn't really match. You can get better and cheaper in Bangkok. On the other hand the stuff was really helpful. Good location coming from the airport, but if you want to go to downtown Bangkok, you have to take the skytrain twice (40B) and a water taxi (15/20B) to get there. It takes you appr. an hour... I had a wonderful time at HI Sukhumvit. My room was beautiful, bathroom clean, atmosphere relaxed and friendly. The staff was very helpful,answered every question and helped with dayplanning. I liked the location, because it was just a min's walk from skytrain and Sukhumvit Soi, Old City sights could be reached quite comfotably by skytrain and boat and Siam Centre was just a few stop with skytrain.I had a wonderful time at HI Sukhumvit. Convenient location, skytrain & food market literally down the st. Staff ok. Rooms basic but clean. Free basic breakfast. Nice common areas but hostel might want to burn mosquito coils.
Multiple signs (kitchen etc), telling guests not to do this and that, reduce hostel’s homeliness. And why charge for locker use?! Staff also initially unwilling to lend adapter, instead asking for purchase, but was nice enough to do so in the end.
