I booked my stay at Habitat HQ at the last minute (the same day!) so I was thrilled to find ANY hostels with availability. So then when I arrived to the smiling, helpful staff, friendly atmosphere, and comfortable rooms, I was even more pleasantly surprised. I was really impressed with the kitchen (open till 2 am), lots of free cooking ingredients like spices and sauces, and tidy setup. My only complaint was that it was a little hard to find and I was advised to take a taxi back at night

The AC in the room was not working or perhaps my other roomates just did not want to have it turned on. The bed sheets was clean and the tiolets was working perfectly. Great value for money..

- horrible service, as it didnt feel like they people working there were happy to help out solving problems - not really a great atmospher - way too big - extremely dirty in the rooms, where piles of trash could be seen in smaller and larger gaps - extremely expensive for bad location and quality

Excellent well run, new hostel based close to the beach in St Kilda. Rooms have a/c which is welcome in the Australian summer. Staff are helpful and organize a program of daily events. Free wi-fi is also a boon this is limited but it is plenty for regular emailing and surfing etc. Only negative thing I can say is the outdoor court yard can be noisy at night if your room is located on this side of the hostel. Hard to sleep until 2am or later some nights even with earplugs!!

Had a really great stay. Easy to meet people, great common area with activities going on every night, clean and secure. A bit expensive, but well worth the money. The staff was really nice in general, but one of them turned out to be kind of a douche while he was doing a pub crawl. "I'm off work so I don't have to be nice to you". I mean, seriously? I really didn't care cause well, he was not worth it, but that guy brought down my whole impression. Would still recommend this place to anyone!

One of the most fun hostels I’ve stayed in. Very social and easy to meet people. Staff laid back, helpful & friendly. St Kilda is a great location and would recommend staying there over Melbourne as nightlife is much better. Place was very clean. Beds could have been more comfortable and rooms were still hot despite AC. Only blanket they gave was a down comforter (in the summer!) Had some long term female roommates which were messy, noisy, and inconsiderate, but hard to know if that’s the norm.

Great Hostel down in St Kilda, a totally different side to Melbourne. Great staff, clean beds and bathrooms and a good atmosphere, what more could you ask for?

Staff were very friendly and informative. However, for $40+/night I would expect the same facilities as YHA etc. i.e. Restaurant, bar, movie lounge etc.

The staff were very friendly, but the vibe in the hostel wasn't great. There seemed to be many people living there who weren't interested in being friendly! Our 6 person dorm was cramped...there was almost no room for our bags!

Had a really great stay. Not long enough but I'll definitely be back!! Great space to hang out and met loads of people, being just a walk away from the beach was so nice. Events got you meeting heaps of other people, St Kilda night markets were very cool. Definitely value for money.. .not the cheapest hostel but worth it with the extra freebies. Staff awesome..... thanks for making my stay at Habitat HQ rock!

I've been travelling throughout Australia for 9 months and this is by far the best hostel I have stayed at. A home from home. Great atmosphere, great location and great staff who are always looking to help you out. Facilities clean and well maintained. Couldn't recommend Habitat HQ more :-)

It is a party hostel. Therefore do not expect to have a quite stay here. At around 5pm all teenagers are getting wasted. There is free wifi (200MB/24h) and a huge living area. Though it gets really loud during the evening when everyone is drunk. Nevertheless the rooms are quite good insulated and you will have a quiet night. The place is not clean at all. The kitchen is a real mess and dinningware is seldom. Bathroom got not cleaned during my 3 day stay. Rest of hostel is ok.
