We are the cheapest hostel in Halifax, we are $10 cheaper then our competition and we dont charge any add on fees with the exception of a $5 charge for check ins after reception hours.
Our hostel is located north of downtown Halifax, only 5 minutes walk to the waterfront and all the other major amenities. Halifax Backpackers is committed to the diverse indie community we reside in. We have live music venues and second hand stores. We believe in inexpensive backpacking and communal experiences. We provide Free linens, free Internet and wireless, Free towels and free information.
We have created a friendly, personal atmosphere based on our own travel experiences. We are the only hostel that provides insider local information (because we are locals!).
We offer private and dormitory rooms at very reasonable prices. For your convenience we have an onsite organic fairtrade cafe and book exchange. We also have Friday night BBQs making it easy to meet other travellers. Tuesday night is 'Ultimate frisbee' night.

I worked in a hostel for over a year and have stayed in 54 hostels in the last 2 years. A hostel with great potential but in need of better houskeeping. Shower stopped working after taking forever to get hot. No staff attention until I asked to pay the next day. Decent location with a nice little cafe, but maintenace, housekeeping and general organization are all in dire need. Did not think it was worth saving $10
